Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel star in the independent film directed by Marc Webber, a noted director of music videos (Miley Cyrus, Nelly, Fergie, Lenny Kravitz, Maroon 5 and others) and written by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber.
The movie’s tagline “A Man Who Believes in Love Falls for a Woman Who Very-Much Doesn’t” hints at what transpires when Tom (Gordon-Levitt), a self-described hopelessly romantic greeting card copywriter is left stunned when his girlfriend Summer (Deschanel) suddenly breaks up with him.
As revealed in the 500 Days of Summer trailer video he sorts through the various phases of the 500 days of their relationship trying to come to grips with what went wrong and why. He is a devotee of pop music and breaks out into song throughout the movie. Through his intense self-reflection he begins to rediscover his true passions in life.
The movie premiered at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival and will be distributed by Fox Searchlight. Joseph Gordon-Levitt will appear in the forthcoming suspense thriller ‘Killshot’ with Mickey Rourke, Diane Lane and Thomas Jane; he will appear as the villain Cobra Commander in the highly anticipated ‘G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra’ a live action screen adaptation of the iconic toy franchise, set for release August 7, 2009. Zooey Deschanel is known for starring roles in Failure to Launch, Tin Man, The Happening, and Yes Man. Rounding out the cast are Matthew Gray Gubler, Geoffrey Arend and Chloe Moretz.
