Sandra Bullock stars as Mary Horowitz, a brilliant and eccentric crossword puzzle designer. She becomes obsessed with a TV news cameraman named Steve (Bradley Cooper) whom she met on a blind date. Believing he is the love of her life, Mary starts trailing Steve and news reporter Hartman Hughes (Thomas Haden Church) as they cover breaking news throughout the country.
Hartman selfishly encourages Mary’s infatuation as a way of getting back at the cameraman. When Mary becomes embroiled in the news story of the year, all three characters must confront the consequences of their motives and behavior towards one another.
Sandra Bullock and her Fortis Films production company produced the movie for 20th Century Fox. It was directed by Phil Traill, in his feature film debut; he is director of the award winning short films ‘Flipped’ and ‘Dangle. Kim Barker (’License to Wed’) wrote the screenplay.
Sandra Bullock recently starred in ‘Premonition’ and will be starring with Ryan Reynolds in Anne Fletcher’s comedy ‘The Proposal’ set for release in summer 2009. Thomas Haden Church appeared in ‘Spider-Man 3′ and received an Academy Award nomination and an IFP Independent Spirit Award for his performance in ‘Sideways.’ Bradley Cooper appeared in ‘Failure to Launch’ and ‘The Wedding Crashers’ and is currently in Jim Carrey’s ‘Yes Man’ and the forthcoming horror movie ‘Case 39′ which stars Renée Zellweger.
