Anne Hathaway has joined the cast of Rio. Get the scoop on Hathaway’s Rio role with details on the Saldanha’s animated picture below.
On top of Anne Hathaway, Rio has also scored the likes of How I Met Your Mother’s Neil Patrick Harris and actor Rodrigo Santoro of 300.
Rio is the story of a socially inept macaw (think colorful parrot) who travels to Rio de Janeiro, leaving his small town in Minnesota behind. Hathaway’s previous voice over credits include Hoodwinked while Harris just finished up on Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs.
The director of the Ice Age franchise and Robots, Carlos Saldanha, will be helming ‘Rio’ along with producers Chris Jenkins and Bruce Anderson. Saldanha has reportedly been working on this for years and now after all this time the 3-D animated digital feature will produced by Blue Sky Studios and Fox Animation. The picture has a scheduled release date of April 8th of 2011.
