The “Avatar” movie is slated for release on December 18, 2009, but the buzz is already on for this sci-fi hit. James Cameron will direct such stars as Sigourney Weaver and Giovanni Ribisi (or at least their voices).
Not to be confused with the Nickolodeon cartoon of the same name, “Avatar” tells the story of the planet Pandora and the humans that arrive. Because the humans can’t breathe on the foreign planet, they live in avatars, which they control subconsciously. But when the humans come across the Na’vi race, not all is well with the alien world.
This 20th Century Fox film has a budget of $190 million, and it is filmed entirely in CGI animation. In fact, they say that,
“The graphics are so intense … that you’re gonna actually forget that you’re watching a CGI 3-D film.”
A couple of weeks ago, Cameron screened 24 minutes of “Avatar” footage in Amsterdam at the Cinema Expo. Afterward, fans used such descriptors as “jaw-dropping” and “one of the best movies of the decade”. So get set people, because this Winter, it sounds like it’s on.

Corrections: Avatar is NOT a CGI film. It’s live action with lots of CGI in it.
There is also no confirmed source that says the film will be PG-13.
