Paramount has selected Jeremy Garlick as the screenplay writer and director for the upcoming Baywatch Movie. Learn more about the film, plus check out video and pictures here.
Calling all Baywatch fans! It has been reported that there is a Baywatch movie in the works with the screenplay courtesy of Jeremy Garelick. Coming off recent success with his script for “The Break-up”, which starred Jennifer Aniston, he has been hired by Paramount to both direct and pen the script for the beach flick.
Don’t be fooled by the title though, just because it carries the same name as the 90’s television series that icons David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson helped cement in television history doesn’t mean we will see too many familiarities in the new adaptation. Garelick, known for his comedic style, was sent a script of the show that he says he has never seen before (really?), and saw the opportunity to turn it into a comedy, saying:
“It felt like the template to do a movie that was similar to Stripes and Police Academy, the comedies I loved growing up.”
The word on the street is that the plot will now revolve around two unlikely lifeguard candidates attempting to get a handle on the job alongside the toned tanned bodies we have come to associate with the name Baywatch.
Readers, what are your thoughts? Are you excited that the new adaption will be a comedy or do you think they should have brought it back old school? Also, would you like to see Hasselhoff/Anderson cameos in the Baywatch movie? Let us know in the comment section.
