Best One Liners From Movies

Some movies are not only fun the first time around, but multiple times. Then it becomes fun to quote them so let’s enjoy some of the best one liners from movies throughout the ages.

Judy Garland 1

There are always going to be the classics that will never be forgotten, but as more movies come out new lines also stick. Therefore my top 10 has some of the old and some of the new, and some I just love!

“I’ll be back.”
The Terminator

Now that Arnold Schwarzenegger is getting back into the movie biz, we must remember what may always be his most famous line. His ‘Terminator’ farewell is also one that people will remember for years to come. Enjoy this clip of how it was used in each of the movies

“Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn.”
Gone With the Wind

The romantic film from the 1930′s will always be a famous movie and, of course, has one of the best one liners ever. It was one of the first times cursing was allowed and it was monumental because Clark Gable had sadly given up on Scarlett O’Hara.

“Go ahead, make my day.”
Sudden Impact

In true Clint Eastwood style, his character in this movie stands up to a robber challenging him and saves the day. The way he said it made such an impact that Ronald Reagan used it during his campaign.

“I’ll have what she’s having.”
When Harry Met Sally

In one of my favorite movies of all time Sally, played by Meg Ryan, explains how women can pretend to be aroused by acting it out in a diner. Sitting nearby, Estelle Reiner responds to the fake O by saying a hysterical line!

“Mama always said life was like a box of chocolates….”
Forrest Gump

There are so many lines to choose from this great movie, but this one, I feel, sums it up. Tom Hanks’ character loves his mama and quotes many things she has taught him, and this one explains how you never know what life will throw at you. And that is what this movie highlights!

“There’s no place like home.”
The Wizard of Oz

Judy Garland played her role of Dorothy so amazingly that girls today (more than 70 years later) still want to be her. Her infamous line that is meant to teach that you have the power inside you all along to follow your heart’s desires. Once she “gets home” (well, wakes up) she realizes she has everything she needs to be who she wants to be!

“I want to be on you.”
Anchorman

I could have gone with so many lines from this film, as I am personally always quoting it. However one of Will Ferrell’s early lines (well the whole scene) cracks me up every time. As he tries to pick up Veronica (Christina Applegate) he stumbles through his words and accidentally came up with this line!

“You sound like you’re from London!”
Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Paul Rudd makes me laugh out loud every time I hear him say this line. This movie is great, in my opinion, and this quote is always the first thing I think of.

“I’m the king of the world!”
Titanic

Ever since Leonardo DiCaprio played Jack Dawson in the 1997 film and stood on the front of the boat, people have been copying him. I myself have stood on the front of a cruise ship and said his epic line. And what a neat part it was in the movie too!

“My precious”
Lord of the Rings

Lastly one line that I can’t get out of my head when I watch this trilogy is this line. The way Gollum/Smeagol talks is so creepy and really highlights how the ring overtakes people.

What do you think of this list of what I consider the best one liners from movies? I know you probably have many more so be sure to leave me a comment if I picked your favorite or if you have another one! Also enjoy these other popular sayings!
