Blake Lively will begin shooting in the role of Carol Ferris this coming March in the Green Lantern. Lively being cast as the aerospace executive is grabbing mixed opinions from all over the web. Many fans doubt not only her acting abilities for the part but her young age as well.

Actress’ Kerri Russell, Jennifer Garner, Eva Green and Diane Krueger were all likely candidates to play the part of the character that is the love interest of Hal Jordan, aka Green Lantern. Lively, however, managed to score the part after her audition was said to be very impressive. So at this point her skills and age for the role obviously wasn’t an issue for the big wigs who picked the Gossip Girl for the part!

“Carol Ferris is strong intelligent independent woman who frequently acts as a love interest to Green Lantern. Her family owns the Ferris Aircraft company, she frequently acts as an executive, and occasionally as a pilot. She is also Star Sapphire, a usually villainous role occupying another part of her personality entirely, where she frequently acts as his nemesis. In the Star Sapphire Corps, where she fights for love across the universe, she has taken on a much more heroic role.”

The Green Lantern, that debuts in theaters on June 17, 2011, kicks off filming in Louisiana. Aside from Lively as Carol Ferris and Ryan Reynolds, the villains of the cast have yet to be determined. The DC based flick will be directed by Martin Campbell.
