Bradley Cooper is reportedly the No.1 pick for the forthcoming Matt Helm series being produced by Gary Ross. Get the details on Cooper’s possible attachment below.
Just a week ago director Gary Ross was said to be tackling Peter Parkers, Marvel Comics arch enemy, Venom as his next big movie project. Now the news has come that Ross will be taking the 1960’s Matt Helm book series to the big screen with Bradley Cooper as the suave leading man.
The Matt Helm series, which was said to have inspired the Austin Powers flicks, was created over thirty years ago by novelist Donald Hamilton who penned twenty-seven books surrounding Helm. The story centers around a US government counter-agent, similar to the likes of the Jason Bourne series. Years ago Dean Martin appeared as Helm on film.
Originally in the hands of Steven Spielberg, the project was then given to Ross by Paramount. The leading role in the big screen remake had both George Clooney and Jon Hamm in the running but now sources are siting that Bradley Cooper is the man for the job. A rising star, Cooper fits the bill for the role with his good looks and talents. Shooting on Matt Helm will kick off in the summer of 2010.
