The highly-anticipated star trek film directed by J.J. Abrams is almost here. The film depicts the early years of Captain James T. Kirk the role made famous by William Shatner. Newcomer Chris Pine will assume the role of the courageous captain in the upcoming film, set to hit theaters May 8th.
Christopher Whitelaw Pine was born August 26, 1980 to Actors Robert Pine and Gwynne Gilford in Los Angeles, California. He is the grandson of actress Anne Gywnne and Hollywood attorney Max M. Gliford.
Chris and his sister Katie grew up in the San Fernando Valley. Pine holds an English degree from the University of California, Berkeley. He also spent his junior year studying English at the University of Leeds, in UK.
His acting career began with theater, performing at the Williamstown Theater, UCLA, and various theater companies.
Pine’s debut acting role was in an episode of ER that aired in 2003. Chris has appeared or is set to appear in the following films: The Princess Diaries2: Royal Engagement (2004), Confession (2005), Just My Luck (2006), Carriers (2007), Blind Dating (2007), Smokin Aces (2007), Bottle Shock (2008), Star Trek (2009), Small Town Saturday Night (2009), Green Lantern (2010).
Pine rejected the role in an upcoming film adaptation of “White Jazz,” so he could play the part of James T. Kirk, in the upcoming Star Trek.
