Here’s the latest….Chris Pine is Jack Ryan! Yes, the blue eyed hunk is set to star in the lead role of the latest Tom Clancy franchise. Get the details here!

Chris Pine

Pine would be the fourth actor to take on the role; Alec Baldwin was the first to play Jack Ryan in the 1990 flick The Hunt for Red October, next up was Harrison Ford, who appeared in two movies - Patriot Games (1992) and Clear and Present Danger (1994), and most recently Ben Affleck in the Sum of All Fears (2002).

Paramount released the following statement regarding the casting of Pine:

“Tom Clancy created an unforgettable character with Jack Ryan. With Chris in this role, we’ve taken our first step in creating a re-boot that lives up to the successful lineage of the franchise.”

The movie will be produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mace Neufeld, and they are currently working with Hossein Amini, who is writing the script. No word yet on who will direct the film.

Pine, who received rave reviews as James T. Kirk in the Star Trek movie earlier this year, is in my opinion a great choice to play Jack Ryan. But…will he be better than Alec Baldwin or Harrison Ford? I wasn’t too impressed by Affleck’s performance in The Sum of All Fears, and Pine definitely proved himself in Star Trek.
