Chris Pine, who stepped into the spotlight after his Star Trek appearance, is said to be in talks as one of the lead stars in The Blade Itself.
The screenplay was penned by Bostonian Ben Affleck and his partner Sean Bailey, and is said to be making its way into production shortly. The story is based on the novel written by Marcus Sakey that centers around two good friends, Evan and Danny, who are split up when one goes to prison. After seven years the pals reunite, contemplating a return back to a life of crime.
So far The Blade Itself has yet to grab a director, with no word on why Ben Affleck, director of Gone Baby Gone, isn’t signed on to the project. Steve Zailian and Sam Raimi were reportedly asked to helm The Blade but turned it down.
