It just goes to show that people don’t want to listen to what the critics have to say. Reviews were none too kind for the Vince Vaughn comedy, but the movie going public didn’t care. I mean come on, look at the jam packed star studded cast, how could you not go see it?
The flick was directed by Peter Billingsley (yes, Ralphie from A Christmas Story is all grown up) and stars Vince Vaughn, Jason Bateman, Malin Akerman, Kristin Davis, Jon Favreau, Kristen Bell, Faizon Love and Kali Hawk. Four couples embark on a tropical vacation in support of their friends (Bateman and Bell), who are on the verge of divorce and seek marital help on the island.
The romantic comedy took in $35.3 million by Sunday’s end, which is pretty close to Vaughn’s other romantic comedies on their debut weekend - The Break Up in 2006 garnered $31 million and Four Christmases in 2008 earned $39 million.
