As far as the reviews go, eh, they’ve not been too kind. The film is jam packed with stars - Vince Vaughn, Jason Bateman, Kristen Bell, Jon Favreau, Malin Akerman, Faizon Love and Kristin Davis. It is directed by Peter Billingsley, who once again teams up with Vaughn.
Here’s the gist of the movie - Four couples head to an island resort, one couple is there to work out their marital problems, while the other three couples are there for support and have some fun. It turns out all of the couples must participate in couples therapy and soon find out that all have issues of their own.
Bill Goodykoontz of the Arizona Republic gave it two and a half stars and said, “What seems like a dream-team exhibition of pros at the top of their game too often turns into an undisciplined mess.”
Kirk Honeycutt of The Hollywood Reporter thinks the flick has a hard time getting a few laughs.
Roger Moore, Orlando Sentinel’s Movie Critic, gave the movie two out of five stars and says:
“None of the couples is interesting enough to carry the movie, and a sauna riff-off is only an echo of vintage Vince and Jon. They’re reduced to kiddie potty jokes and tacky sex gags here. ”
I’m not one to listen to the critics. Yes, I’ve read my fair share of the negative reviews. Will I wait for it to land in my mailbox from Netflix? Nope.
