Director and writer Christopher Monger has nabbed English actor Daniel Radcliffe to play the lead character in his latest indie project entitled The Amateur Photographer. Exciting news for the Harry Potter star who is set to appear in the upcoming last installment of the J.K. Rowling adapted series out next year.
Based on the novel by the same name written by Chris Monger, the upcoming said comedy flick will follow Daniel as an amateur artist back in the 1970’s who is hired on by a small mill town in New England to take pictures of their special moments. Per Variety his character will “battle local authorities, while bringing a bit of a velvet revolution to the town.”
This will mark the star’s second post Potter movie role since finishing up filming on the franchise that made him a household name. Radcliffe just recently finished filming on the set of director James Watkins The Woman In Black where he plays the role of Arthur Kipps, co-starring alongside actors Ciarán Hinds and Janet McTeer. And that’s all all the twenty-two year old has going, the December Boys star will also star in coming months in the Broadway play How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying.
To date, aside from his stint as the famous boy wizard, Daniel’s resume includes the TV movie My Boy Jack and The Tailor of Panama. The Amateur Photographer should round out his acting credits nicely, what do you think? Is an indie comedy right up the Potter star’s alley?
