Sienna Miller In GI Joe Movie

Sienna Miller stars in the upcoming “GI Joe” movie as The Baroness. For the film, she has to dress in head to toe leather and be covered in blood. The film has been getting a lot of press, and while it’s not because Sienna Miller is a part of the movie, the fact that she’s walking around in skin tight leather won’t hurt.

Sienna’s role as The Baroness is a far cry from other roles she’s portrayed. In the movie based on the kids action heros, Sienna’s character is an evil, sexy woman who is always a thorn in the GI Joe’s side. Sources say she had a lot of fun filming the role. See more photos of Sienna Miller as The Baroness here.

Also appearing in the “GI Joe” movie are Dennis Quaid, Channing Tatum, Marlon Wayans, and Brendan Faser. Depsite these names, Sienna was the first actor to sign on for the movie. The film is slated for release on August 7, 2009.

Lorenzo Odone Dies

Lorenzo Odone was the subject of the 1992 film “Lorenzo’s Oil” depicting his parents efforts to save him from the genetic disease ALD. Lorenzo died yesterday at age 30. You can see his biography and video from the film below.

Lorenzo s Oil

Lorenzo Odone Dies

Lorenzo Odone Biography

Lorenzo Odone was born May 29, 1978. He passed away one day after his 30th birthday. His father, Augusto Odone, contests that his passing was not related to the genetic disease adrenoleukodystrophy, or ALD, that Lorenzo battled. The cause of death is being attributed to pneumonia.

Lorenzo was diagnosed at age 5 and only given a few years to live. Due to his parents research, they “formulated a blend of erucic and oleic acids found in cooking oils,” which they claimed fought the disease. A study done in 2005 did show the patented oil can, in fact, prevent symptoms.

The film stars Susan Sarandon and Nick Nolte as Lorenzo’s parents. Sarandon received an Oscar nomination for her performance. You can see video from the film below.

Agent Smart Rides A Vespa

Whenever there’s a top secret double-agent spy action hero, he drives a manly car. He drives KIT. He drives a Ferrari. He drives an Audi. He drives a Bat Mobile. He drives a … a Vespa? If you’re Maxwell Smart in “Get Smart”, that’s right. Agent Smart drives a Vespa.

Steve Carrell stars as Agent Maxwell Smart in the upcoming comedy, “Get Smart”, opposite Anne Hathaway, which premieres June 20, 2008. But in spoof comedy fashion, this action hero doesn’t drive just any old vehicle - he’s rockin’ the Vespa.

Vespa has been a part of “Get Smart” since it was a television show in the 1960s. In fact, the Alpha-Wallis Vespa was developed specifically for Maxwell Smart, which could fly and scope things out under water.

To promote both the movie and the scooter company, they have paired with Subway in an instant-win sweepstakes. Ten free Vespas will be given away as grand prizes. So go get your 5, 5-dollar, 5-dollar footlooooong, and maybe you’ll get a Vespa while you’re there.

‘Sex and the City’ New York Premiere - Part II

Apparently, the New York premiere of ‘Sex and the City’ was not all fashion and Swarovski crystals as previously noted. There were many, many people turned away and it caused quite a scene.

Sex and the City 1

‘Sex and the City’ New York Premiere - Part II

The debut of the film in New York took place at Radio City Music Hall, which seats 6,000 people. Officials are estimating that approximately 2,000 people were turned away after the hall was full. Fans received the tickets through promotional giveaways authorized by New Line Cinema.

The mostly female crowd surged against police barricades, cursing and stomping in their stilettoes at the cruel turn of events.

It’s not like the fans didn’t show up early to get their spot in the “first come, first server” line.

They gave out all these tickets just to make a big scene. It’s not right. It’s not fair. I’m very disappointed,” said Heather Dispresso, 20, of Long Island who had waited in line for three hours only to be turned away.

Ouija Movie

The latest idea for a Hollywood movie is based on everyone’s favorite slumber party game: the Ouija board. The “Ouija” movie is in the writing stages, said to be a supernatural adventure that uses the Ouija board as an integral part of the action. But don’t worry - it’s not “Jumanji” reincarnated.

Ouija Movie

“Ouija” Movie

This will not be the first movie to center around a Ouija board, though. In 2004, a film was set in Spain and centered around kids who played the spiritual board game. Another Ouija movie was released on July 25, 2007 in the Philippines. This film was a horror flick and very successful, winning awards.

Michael Bay is said to be a co-producer on the Ouija film. He is most known for his horror movies, like “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” and “The Amityville Horror”, but he has been involved in more mainstream films, including “Armageddon”.

“Ouija” movie will be created through Universal, which has a six-year contract with Hasbro games, the maker of the Ouija board since 1966.

See the trailer for 2007 version of the “Ouija” movie below, while we wait for more info to come in on the new US version.

Movies Releasing This Week - May 30: Sex and the City, The Strangers

Friday is almost here, and with it there are new movies. Here are the movies releasing this week, on Friday, May 30. There’s only two this week: “Sex and the City” and “The Strangers”, so whether you want to laugh or jump out of your seat, you’ve got options.

“Sex and the City” Releases Friday

Sex and the City

Friday night, it’s going down. Groups of girls are going out in droves, wearing their best Carrie garb and drinking their cosmos, all in the name of one movie: “Sex and the City”. But as much hype as there is, it sounds like the film doesn’t live up. But did you really expect it to? And is it really necessary that the movie is 2 hours 15 minutes? I smell overkill.

While one qualm with the film is the way the characters have remained stagnant over time, the big complaint is the abundance of product placement. It is also much tamer sex-wise than the television show ever was - I’ll let you decide whether that’s a good or a bad thing. One reviewer writes,

There are some good lines, but the much-feted banter is far less soulful or funny than that in Bridget Jones’s Diary. Sex and the City won’t disappoint any of its fans. But like its characters - Samantha, who’s on the verge of 50, and Carrie, who looks like a skeletal transvestite - it’s getting on a bit. This really should be its final hurrah.

Having said all that, I’ll be wearing my stilettos, martini glass in hand, on Friday.

The Strangers

Liv Tyler is back, and this time she’s going horror film - a movie that will make you think twice about renting a cabin for the weekend somewhere. In “The Strangers”, Liv and her husband, played by Scott Speedman, check into a large house for the weekend, but their romantic getaway is interrupted by a group of people who want to torture the couple just because “they were home”.

Feelings on this movie are about 50-50. I guess you’ll either love it or hate it, but either way I bet you jump out of your seat at least once.

‘Sex and the City’ New York Premiere

The stars were out and the moons aligned for the ‘Sex and the City’ premiere in New York City last night. This party sounds like one for the record books.

Sarah Jessica Parker

Sex and the City New York Premiere

You can see all the pictures you can handle of the premiere here.

Sarah Jessica Parker looks ravishing in a long, flowing gown with her hair down. Kim Cattrall and Jennifer Hudson went with a shorter dress but still look beautiful. Cynthia Nixon was of course also there, but no sign of her lesbian partner Christine Marinoni. Maybe they were trying to deflect questions about possible upcoming nuptials. I’m loving the color Kristin Davis chose but the dress is not my favorite. The ladies looked great, but the premiere itself sounds like tough competition.

Word is Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristen Davis, Cynthia Nixon and Kim Cattrall will walk down a pink carpet smothered in 10,000 sparklying crystals. At the after-party, at MOMA’s Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden, 500 crystal heart ornaments will hang in the garden’s trees while a Blossom chandelier of pink and green crystals will be hard to miss.

The Swarovski crystals were everywhere. A $100,000 crystal-encrusted sofa, curtain, lanterns, sculptures and serving trays with the “Sex and City” logo were all made of crystal.

The premiere sounds amazing and I can’t wait to see the film. You can see more pictures of the star, Sarah Jessica Parker, below.

DVDs Releasing This Week

Not many new DVDs releasing this week, but enough to write about. For both the big screen and small screen, we’re in the dead zone as far as exciting new releases go. But there’s a couple, so here we go.

“Rambo” Releases This Week on DVD

Rambo

Sylvester Stallone is back. In “Rambo”, both written and directed by Stallone, we find the always kickass fighter living a quiet life in the jungles of Thailand. That is, until he is hired by a group of mercenaries to travel to Burma to save a group of Christian aid workers. Fans have been waiting for more Rambo since 1988, but it looks like they might be a little disappointed. The New York Times writes,

“Rambo” is, for most of its fairly brief running time, a blood bath punctuated by occasional bouts of clumsy dialogue. There are beheadings, mutilations, disembowelings — enough gore to rival “Apocalypto.”

But if you’re looking for violent excitement, this might be just the movie for you this week.

Grace Is Gone

John Cusack made two movies about the war this year, “Grace is Gone” and “War, Inc.” “War, Inc.” is a satirical look at the capitalist side of conflict. But “Grace is Gone” is a much more emotional story. Cusack plays a husband whose wife has been killed in the line of duty in Iraq. With two daughters to raise, Cusack isn’t sure how to break the news, so he waits. Throughout the movie we watch him struggle with how and when to tell his 8 and 12-year-olds that their mother isn’t coming home. I’m guessing Kleenex are a requirement with this one - I needed one just for the trailer.

Cassandra’s Dream

“Cassandra’s Dream” is written and directed by Woody Allen. But with a plot that sounds a lot like “Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead” (Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Ethan Hawke, Marisa Tomei), it looks like Allen has backed away from comedy this time. “Cassandra’s Dream” follows two brothers down on their financial luck who turn to crime as a way to make some cash. When their Uncle Howard offers to help, by paying them to kill an old business associate, the brothers must come face-to-face with their decision. In the film we follow Ewan McGregor and Colin Farrell as they deal with the criminal decisions they make.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button Preview

When I sat down with popcorn and my Sprite on Friday, settling in to watch “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”, I was ready for more than just an archaeological adventure - I was ready for some more previews! And the most interesting one I saw was the preview for “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Brad Pitt Stars in “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”

Photograph courtesy of PR Photos

Scheduled to release December 19, 2008, the movie stars Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett, and Tilda Swinton. It tells the story of Benjamin Button, a man that ages backwards so that while everyone around him is getting older, he’s actually getting younger. F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote the short story in 1922, inspired by Mark Twain’s remark that “it was a pity that the best part of life came at the beginning and the worst part at the end.” But it makes it awfully complicated to fall in love.

Rumor has it that Brad Pitt is getting his family involved in the movie, with Shiloh making her screen debut. This is the second time that Cate Blanchett and Pitt will star together - after the success of “Babel”, this movie looks to be no different. A source from the set has called the film “absolutely stunning”.

Sharon Stone Upskirt at Cannes

Sharon Stone has a real-life “Basic Instinct” moment at Cannes when she flashes an upskirt while on a boat ride.

The Cannes Film Festival has brought us some great moments so far. “Indiana Jones” was released, Lindsay Lohan was spotted kissing her girlfriend, Jack Black and Dustin Hoffman spilled the details about Angelina’s twins, and now Sharon Stone is flashing her over-the-hill goods.

You can see the photos of the upskirt here.

Sharon isn’t all flash at the festival. Stone also helped raise over $10 million for AIDS research at a charity auction held at the Moulin de Mougins outside Cannes. She was joined by Madonna, Diddy, and Mary. J. Blige, who all auctioned off personal belongings off for a good cause.

Hilary Duff Scorpion Scene

John Cusak’s movie, “War, Inc.” releases today in New York and Los Angeles, but it’s Hilary Duff in the scorpion scene that has everyone talking.

Hilary Duff

Hilary Duff Scorpion Scene

Duff is looking to become a serious actress and break out of the “teeny bobber” stigma and into more mature roles. This is rumored to be the reason why she turned down starring in the remake of the television show “90210.” And, I guess, also the reason why she chose to stick a Scorpion down her pants playing the role of Yonica Babyyeah, “an outrageous Middle Eastern pop star.” The scene occurs in a bar-type, club scene where Duff is trying to get Cusak’s attention. Duff picks up a big, black scorpion and drops it down her pants. But as I learned watching “Indiana Jones,” the bigger the scorpion the better. So I guess Hilary was safe had the arachnid chose to bite.

The scene is pretty hot. Check it out below.
