Actress Mary-Louise Parker played Ruth Jamison in the 1991 classic film “Fried Green Tomatoes.” It’s commonly known that the film downplayed the lesbain relationship between Mary-Louise and Mary Stuart Masterson, but Parker insists she was all for a little Mary on Mary interaction. I’m sticking with the “Weeds” theme tonight and after watching her play Nancy on that show this story is not surprising. Girl gets a little freaky on the small screen

“I tried to make it (the homosexual connection) more articulated at the time, but they didn’t really want to go that way. And in some ways I wish that it was… Because I tried - I really tried to push it at the time, and they didn’t want to go there with me. Mary Stuart did, Fannie Flagg did, but not the director, not the producer, nobody else.”

From the looks of the scene below it’s pretty apparent what’s going on between the two women in the film. They’ve had a little alcohol, they’re wet and they share a kiss. Fannie Flagg would be proud. I know nothing could ever beat the original, but this film should be remade. I think it’d would have quite an audience. Check out the video below.

Hunter will be playing Stan in the upcoming movie “Seventeen Again,” which releases this February. The movie is about a guy who doesn’t like the way his life turned out. One morning he wakes up to be seventeen again and has a chance to go back to high school and change it.

Hunter Parrish was born on May 13, 1987 in Richmond, Virginia, which makes his age 21. That may explain why he is so savvy with the ladies on “Weeds.” He plays a 17 year-old who is currently banging the neighbor kid’s mom. Parrish graduated from Texas Tech University Independent School District in 2007. It is the only distance learning program in Texas that is accredited.

Hunter has appeared in several television series, including “CSI,” “Law and Order” and “The Guardian,” which was one of his first acting roles. He’s gone on to appear in several film roles, including “RV,” “Down In The Valley” and “Steal Me.” His role in “Steal Me” won him the Best Actor award at the Los Angeles Method Fest in 2005. But out of all of his films to date, “Freedom Writers” starring Hilary Swank may his most mainstream role.

Maria Thayer will be seen in the upcoming movie “State of Play”

As a biography, Maria Thayer was born on October 30, 1975 in Boring, Oregon, so her age is 32. And yes, that’s really the town’s name. It’s in Clackamas County, off Route 212. She is the oldest of two children. After Oregon, Maria moved to Minnesota where she went to high school, and later New York.

Maria began acting professionally in 1999, with a role in the movie “Kimberly”. Since then, her biggest role has been as Tammi on “Strangers with Candy”. She has also had several one-time appearances on various television shows, including “Law & Order: SVU”, “Will and Grace”, and “Nip/Tuck”. She has also appeared in such big-name films as “Accepted” alongside Justin Long, and “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” (remember the crazy newlywed?).

The latest in Maria’s filmography is “State of Play”, a film with an unbelievable cast that reads as follows: Rachel McAdams, Jason Bateman, Russell Crowe, Ben Affleck, Helen Mirren, Robin Wright Penn, and Jeff Daniels. The movie is about the murder of a congressman’s mistress and the team of investigative reporters who work alongside a police detective to solve the mysteries of the case. It is slated to be released April 17, 2009.

She lists Julianne Moore and Bernadette Peters as her redheaded role models. Her talents include the piano and the accordion.

Sure there was “Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights”, but did that really count as a sequel? If Patrick Swayze wasn’t big in it, I say no. But the classic love story that began with a watermelon (come on, you remember, “I carried a watermelon?”) isn’t dead yet. Rumor has it there is another Dirty Dancing sequel coming, and Patrick Swayze has been approached to appear in it.

After being given an unfavorable diagnosis of pancreatic cancer, Swayze has bounced back strong and is even working again. He is currently filming “The Beast”, a television show about the FBI. And now other offers are reportedly pouring in, including for “Dirty Dancing” follow-ups:

‘It’s great news Patrick is so well and there are a lot of offers for him,’ a source tells the Daily Express. Everyone wants him to star in a Dirty Dancing sequel. It’s just a matter of him making his mind up.’

So what would Swayze’s role be in such a sequel? He’s already done the dance instructor cameo, and it would just be overkill to do that twice. I think he should play a father figure in this next one - say his daughter is this big dancing star, love story ensues, Swayze has the chance to play the protective father. What do you think? I know, it could use some work.

There are two movies coming out this Friday, both of which look to draw crowds. We’ve got a sequel in Brendan Frasier’s “The Mummy 3″, and Kevin Costner finally returns to the big screen for the comedy “Swing Vote”. So check out the movies releasing Friday!

It’s a clever concept. Kevin Costner plays an uninterested citizen who becomes the one vote that could decide the winner of the presidency. After a ballot box malfunction, the recast of his vote becomes the central focus of both parties’ campaigns. He even becomes famous in the process. It looks both funny and heartwarming, and brings a new concept to our screens. Also starring Kelsey Grammer and Paula Patton, “Swing Vote” looks like a winner to me, but it’s only been successful with about half of the critics. It’s a 50-50 split between those that think it’s one big political cliche and those that think it’s heartfelt and funny.

The Mummy 3: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor

Brendan Frasier is back in this third installment of “The Mummy” series of movies. This time the adventurers find themselves facing China Dragon’s Emperor and the army who was buried with him. In this supernatural, adventure film, you’re sure to be entertained. A few laughs, a few fight scenes, and a lot of imagination - sounds good to me.

Despite being airbrushed in the past for “King Arthur” in 2004, Keira Knightley is now refusing to enhance her breast size in any promotional materials for her latest movie, “TheDuchess”. Now insiders say Keira is naturally flat-chested throughout the film.

An insider working on her latest film says,

“She has insisted that her figure stay in its natural state. She is proud of her body and doesn’t want it altered.”

This attitude is a striking contrast to that she held just one year ago. After the release of Keira’s Chanel ads, in which she kneeled topless, with a bowler hat covering her breasts, Keira revealed the secrets to fabulous photos,

“OK, I’m on the cover of a magazine, but somebody else does the hair, and the makeup, and airbrushes the f— out of me — it’s not me, it’s something other people have created.”

It’s nice to see the change of heart, because whether you’re big-busted or flat-chested, large or small, tall or short, it’s better to just be happy being you, because most of the time it’s pretty difficult to change it, or at least pretty expensive.

The latest in Harry Potter movies is just around the corner, and now you can see the trailer for “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” here. The sixth film in the children’s movie and book series will release in the United States on November 21.

The biggest news coming from Harry Potter sources about this sixth movie in the franchise is that a young Tom Riddle, a.k.a. Lord Voldemort, will be revealed. In the film, the young villain is played by Hero Fiennes-Tiffin, who is the nephew of Ralph Fiennes.

It was also announced today that “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” has been chosen for a Royal Film Performance in the UK. On November 17, the movie will premiere in front of an unnamed royal. Last year’s Royal Film Performance was canceled after the Prince of Wales canceled at the last minute over fears of protests by Bangledeshi people regarding the film “Brick Lane”.

In a recent interview, Tommy Lee stated that he’d like to see a movie made about Motley Crue’s memoirs, and in that movie he’d like Johnny Depp to play his character. And I guess if you had to pick someone to play Tommy Lee, this one actually makes a little since - I can’t think of anyone with a better resemblance.

As for who else will take part in the Motley Crue movie, that is still unclear. Tommy Lee says,

“Johnny Depp would be my choice to play me. He’s the best (actor) ever. We’re working on the film, trying to find the right producers and director and all that sort of stuff.”

The film is based on the band’s 2001 book, “The Dirt: Confessions of the World’s Most Notorious Rock Band”. Thus, the movie will be called “The Dirt”. Sounds about right, considering the book tells us all about the band, their ups and downs, what it was like in the studio and what it was like on tour. That should be some good storytelling, and if the movie goes forward, Johnny Depp would be an excellent choice.

Josh Brolin plays George W. Bush in Oliver Stone’s biopic of Bush’s life and presidency in the movie entitled simply, “W.” You can see the trailer below.

Stone has done his fair share of movies on Presidents. There was “JFK” and “Nixon.” But this is the first time he’s done a film on a President that is still living. Not to mention, Dub-ya is still in the White House.

“We don’t really know much about Mr. Bush beyond the controlled images we’ve been allowed to see on TV. This movie’s taking a bold stab at looking behind that curtain,” Stone said in a statement.

The script was leaked to the press in April. It subsequently went through two re-writes and Stone himself said “it’s evolving” after people thought it was a joke. That script included the infamous pretzel choking scene and some wonderful quotes by Bush. Cindy Adams of the NY Post printed a few:

Even if these quotes are not true, they are too funny not to pass along. I’m not sure the President Bush will be laughing though. Stone is taking a risk making this film, but so are the other actors joining Brolin in the film including, Elizabeth Banks as Laura Bush, James Cromwell as George Bush Sr, Ellen Burstyn as Barbara Bush, Jeffrey Wright as Colin Powell, Thandie Newton as Condoleezza Rice, Scott Glenn as Donald Rumsfeld, Toby Jones as Karl Rove Ioan Gruffudd as Tony Blair and Richard Dreyfuss as Dick Cheney.

The film is set to release October 17th. Just in time for the Presidential election. Check out the video below.

There’s only a couple DVDs coming out this week, so I hope you’ve got some old ones stashed away to get you through. The DVDs releasing this week are “Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay” and “Never Back Down”.

In this sequel to the original, Harold and Kumar begin their travels to Amsterdam the same way everyone would - in the airport. After an encounter with airport security, the boys to get on the flight only to find that they’ve been mistaken for terrorists. They get arrested and sent to Guantanamo where they’re interrogated by Rob Corddry. Realizing their fate of wasting away in a terrorist prison with no hope of trial or phone call, Harold and Kumar plot their escape.

Poking fun at stereotypes and the judgments people make about one another everyday, Harold and Kumar is not only a funny movie to spend a couple hours on, but also an eye-opener with a bit of political commentary mixed in. They even smoke out with President Bush.

Never Back Down

Have you been looking for a good fight movie? “Never Back Down” just might be it. Starring Djimon Hounsou and Sean Faris, it’s a movie about a kid’s introduction to mixed martial arts (MMA). Jake Tyler gets involved after he realizes the only way to beat his rival Ryan is to learn some MMA and kick his ass.

And here’s a funny piece of trivia about the film - it’s working title was “Get Some”. I’m glad they changed it.

At Comic-Con in San Diego, producers and actors have been presenting upcoming action movies and comic book flicks to build up the anticipation. But the movie that was presented at yesterday’s panel has possibly created the most buzz so far. Director McG ran the panel promoting the upcoming movie “Terminator Salvation”, and thousands of fans screamed in delight.

At Comic-Con, the “Terminator Salvation” panel released some footage from the film and McG promised not to let down the fans of the Terminator franchise. And the director said not to believe everything you hear about the movie because the studio is intentionally releasing misinformation to keep people on their toes.

The message of the movie is simple, according to McG. Differences don’t matter, but it’s people’s ability to come together that allows for survival.

“If the world would get its head out of its ass, we wouldn’t have to wait for a nuclear holocaust to get to that point.”

But beware, the panel also said that “Terminator Salvation” is “not for pansies.”

See the “Terminator Salvation” trailer below, but be careful if you get motion sickness - it’s dominated by strobe-light effects that’ll drive you nuts.

After the successes of other recent movies based on old television shows, like “Get Smart” and “Starsky and Hutch”, production companies are continuing the trend. Warner Bros. has tagged Leonardo DiCaprio for a role in a movie version of the classic television show “The Twilight Zone”.

“The Twilight Zone” movie will be a piece-together of several episodes of the classic show. Warner Bros. is still looking for pitches and script ideas, so don’t get too excited just yet, because it could be awhile. The company is currently negotiating with Rod Serling’s estate to get ahold of the bulk of the episodes.

And the remake sound about perfect for DiCaprio. In past interviews he has mentioned the show as being his favorite. Hopefully the latest film goes better than the last, which was rumored to be cursed after three actors died while filming.

Adrien Brody and Mark Ruffalo play brothers who are the “best con men in the world” in the new film, “The Brothers Bloom.” Check out the trailer below.

Bloom (Brody) and Stephen (Ruffalo) take on one last job which involves conning a beautiful young heiress played by Rachel Weisz.

“The plot thickens when Penelope’s beauty and brains enchants one of the brothers, and threatens to break a lifelong bond of kinship. The Brothers Bloom is a thrilling story full of genuine humor and heart-warming romance.”

Rian Johnson is the writer and director who is also responsible for the 2005 movie “Brick.” That film was nominated for 10 awards, winning 8, including the Citizen Kane Award for Best Directorial Revelation.

Meg Ryan gets fat, or in her own words “enormous,” for her latest movie role. She didn’t actually gain an extra 250 lbs, but Ryan did have to sit in make up for three hours each day. You can see the pictures below.

The fat suit is being worn for the film, “My Mom’s New Boyfriend.” Meg plays Marty Durand, the mother of an FBI agent who loses weight and begins to date Hollywood hottie Tommy, played by Antonio Banderas. The only problem is Tommy is an international art theif being tracked by agent Henry Durand, Marty’s son. Henry is played by Colin Hanks who I just watched play the same role of FBI agent opposite Diane Lane in “Untraceable” the other night. Something tells me the two movies are a bit different.

As far as Ryan in the suit, she says it was no big deal.

“I didn’t mind the make-up. I like a character who is all about transformation. She was enormous, and now she’s foxy.”

You can see the fat Meg Ryan here. You can also see the movie now. It premiered on DVD June 17. It sounds like a great cast, Selma Blair also stars, but I think there’s a reason it went straight to video. See for yourself in the trailer below. At this point Meg can make all the bad movies she wants, and I’d still love her.
