Actress Mary-Louise Parker played Ruth Jamison in the 1991 classic film “Fried Green Tomatoes.” It’s commonly known that the film downplayed the lesbain relationship between Mary-Louise and Mary Stuart Masterson, but Parker insists she was all for a little Mary on Mary interaction. Check out a scene from the movie below and judge the sexual tension for yourself.
I’m sticking with the “Weeds” theme tonight and after watching her play Nancy on that show this story is not surprising. Girl gets a little freaky on the small screen
“I tried to make it (the homosexual connection) more articulated at the time, but they didn’t really want to go that way. And in some ways I wish that it was… Because I tried - I really tried to push it at the time, and they didn’t want to go there with me. Mary Stuart did, Fannie Flagg did, but not the director, not the producer, nobody else.”
From the looks of the scene below it’s pretty apparent what’s going on between the two women in the film. They’ve had a little alcohol, they’re wet and they share a kiss. Fannie Flagg would be proud. I know nothing could ever beat the original, but this film should be remade. I think it’d would have quite an audience. Check out the video below.
