The Real Reason Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid Split

Although the highly publicized divorce of Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid was back in 2000, the dirty secrets are just now being revealed. After eight years of slience, Meg is coming clean about Quaid. More photos and video below.

Meg RyanDennis Quaid
Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid

In 2000 Meg Ryan ended her failing marriage by having an affair with ‘Proof of Life’ co-star Russell Crowe but she recently told InStyle magazine that it was actually her ex-husband, Dennis Quaid, that cheated throughout their marriage.

“Dennis was not faithful to me for a very long time, and that was very painful. I found out more about that after I was divorced” - Ryan

For years Meg went from ‘America’s Sweetheart’ to the ’scarlet woman.’ At the time she felt liberated and free, feeling she didn’t have to care about what people thought and she could live her life “under the radar.” She also couldn’t understand why she was dubbed ‘America’s Sweetheart.’

“It’s an old-fashioned idea, so anachronistic. I understood it was a compliment about being lovable, and it felt nice … but it also felt, after a time, like ideas were being projected onto me that had nothing to do with me,” she says.

Looking back, Meg admits that her decision to hide Quaid’s infidelity may have harmed her public image but she has no regrets. She is now in the spotlight again with her new movie, “The Women.” The all-female, all-star cast sparkle in the comedy about a circle of New York friends. I think Meg Ryan will always be a crowd favorite and as for Dennis Quaid….Dennis who?

Heath Ledger’s Daughter Set for the Future

Heath Ledger will be dearly missed but it’s good to know that his 2-year old daughter Matilda Rose will be well taken care of. Ledger died of an accidental overdose before he could change his will but read on to see what the outcome was after all these months of court meetings. See more photos and video below.

Matilda Rose LedgerHeath_Ledger_3
Matilda Rose and Heath Ledger

According to Australian news reports, all of Heath Ledger’s estimated $20 million will go to his adorable, look-a-like, little girl Matilda Rose. His will initially left everything to his parents, Kim and Sally, and three sisters - Kate, Olivia and Ashleigh. His generous family stated that there will be no challenge and the family has given everything to Matilda.

It turns out even if Matilda doesn’t receive a thing from her father’s will, her future would still be secure. In Ledger’s last film ‘The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus,’ Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law finish his role as Tony. They were so concerned for Matilda that they donated all their earnings from the movie to her!

As for actress Michelle Williams, Matilda’s mother and Heath’s ex love, a year off from acting and a new hobby are on her calendar. Still grieving, she claims she has lost her creativity but gained a new perception on what is important in life.

“When I work again, maybe it should be a comedy. I’ve always had a tendency for darker, more life-like material. I think I had this sense that important things are heavier things. I don’t know if that’s true any more.” - Williams

Drugs Run Heavy in the O’Neal Family

Well it turns out Tatum O’Neal isn’t the only one in her family with a drug problem. Her father and half-brother were busted having a little too much fun during a father-son get together. More photos below.

o neal family 1
Tatum O’Neal

The “Wicked Wicked Games” actress, who chronicled her recovery from drug addiction four years ago, picked the wrong day back in June to walk up to a homeless guy on the lower East Side of New York and ask for crack. A narcotics team was conducting a drug sweep in that area that day and busted Tatum with two bags of drugs - one with crack, one with regular cocaine - and an unused crack pipe. She obviously doesn’t know NYC cops if she thought her excuse of “I am doing research for a part,” was going to fool them. O’Neal was charged with a seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and recently spoke about the dangers of drug use, and her concern for her family.

“Addiction, if untreated, can lead to jail, institutions and death. I love them both and I am sorry to hear about this.”

The reason for her concern? Her own father, actor Ryan O’Neal, had what is suspected to be meth in his “living area” within his Mailbu home while his son, Redmond was there. Redmond, who’s mother is Farrah Fawcett, is no gem himself. The 23-year old was given three years probation, also back in June, after pleading guilty to drug possession charges and was actually the reason the cops stopped by. It was a routine check so you’d think they would’ve made sure no drugs were in the house. Looks like the O’Neals aren’t the smartest bunch. Both knuckleheads were released the next day on $10,000 bail and could be charged with felony possession of narcotics.

So Tatum must be proud of old pop and little bro. She, on the other hand, started her life off well. At 10, she won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in “Paper Moon” but then she grew up and it all went down hill. She married tennis star John McEnroe in 1986 and had three children before they divorced in 1992. In her memoir, “A Paper Life,” O’Neal admitted that her addiction to heroin in 1995 led to her losing custody of her children to McEnroe. She also claimed that her mother was an alcoholic and that her father abused her.

Who wouldn’t be messed up after that? She’s really good in her recurring role on FX’s series “Rescue Me” though. Don’t give up Tatum!

Hounddog Explicit Scene Controversy (Video)

“Hounddog,” starring 14-year-old Dakota Fanning is fueling angry protests. National campaigns against this movie are dubbing it “child porn.” More photos and video below.

Dakota Fanning
Dakota Fanning “Hounddog”

A box office boycott of this film has been called due to the sexually explicit scene involving an under age girl. Ted Baehr, the founder of the movie review company, Movieguide, believes theses kind of movies are damaging to the child actresses filming these scenes, as well as the public at large. Family and women’s groups have been especially active in North Carolina, where “Hounddog” was filmed.

‘Hounddog” is a low-budget Southern-gothic tale set in 1959 about a 12-year-old motherless girl obsessed with Elvis Presley who seductively sings for a teenager in exchange for tickets to a concert of the King’s. In the movie Dakota Fanning’s character is the victim in a disturbing rape scene. The controversial scene is shot mostly in the dark with only flashes of lightning illuminating Fanning’s face as she screams.

Writer-director Deborah Kampmeier was nearly run out of last year’s Sundance Film Festival after critics reactions to the film, but Kampmeier vehemently defends the character Fanning plays. She also says the version shown at Sundance 2007 was rushed through editing to get a version finished in time to be screened and refused to let the experience discourage her.

“She is simply and innocently experiencing and relishing the aliveness of her being, the life force pulsing through her body, celebrating the power and creative force of her sexuality that is her birthright.” - Kampmeier

Eighteen months later the movie is now in theaters and in Kampmeier’s words, “is about taking that which can poison you and turning it into something that is good.”

Child pornography or simply a scene to enhance the art of a film? You be the judge.

Drew Barrymore Hits Rock Bottom (Gross!)

Tom Green, Brandon Davis, Fabrizio Moretti - Drew Barrymore has proven over and over that she has the worst taste in men but her latest make-out session literally makes me gag. More photos below.

Drew Barrymore
Drew Barrymore has no standards

So Drew and Gossip Girl’s Ed Westwick (gag) a.k.a Chuck Bass, who was wearing leather pants and pointed shoes by the way, were caught in the act this week at the Kings of Leon concert in NYC. Though twelve years apart, Drew was photographed straddling and kissing him “passionately” while “Sex on Fire” played. Here’s the worst part, Chace Crawford was there too! She actually chose Ed over Chace!

After the concert, the trashy duo went to an after party at Bowery Electric together. So it wasn’t just a lapse of judgment at a beer infused concert, she decided she wanted to leave with him too. According to US Weekly, that wasn’t the first time they hung out. They were spotted at the Saturday Night Live after party last weekend until 6 A.M. where onlookers proclaim that “Drew was hanging all over Ed!” adding “they were full-on making out!” If you can stomach it, click here to see the evidence.

So I’m thinking all that drinking and drugging Drew did as a child/teen has done serious damage to her brain giving her permanent beer goggles, thus, making her believe that Ed Westwick is make-out worthy….Is anyone else as disappointed as I am right now?

More photos of the homely Ed Westwick below.

See Who Made the List: OK!’s Most Eligible Bachelors

The ever-changing list of gorgeous, single and talented men has been updated, reviewed and published for every woman out there. Ok! Magazine compiled the list just for you so see who made it and why. See photos and video below.

Chace_Crawford_1
The yummy Chace Crawford makes the list
Matt White
Matt White

Counting down at number eight (the newbie), singer-songwriter Matt White describes his perfect date: “Going to a Bruce Springsteen concert and then talking for hours at a diner while eating tons of food that is probably not so good for you.”

Shia Labeouf
Shia LaBeouf

Next is my personal favorite, Shia LaBeouf. The “Transformers” and “Disturbia” star has had a few run-ins with the law but his charm and sense of humor always have us wanting more. As for his romantic status, Shia says he’s just dating and “messing around.”

“I’m 21 years old [so I'm] doing the 21-year-old thing.” But don’t get the wrong idea. “There have been real innocent dates,” he says. “They haven’t been, like, ‘Come to my house and I’ll make you some food, and we’ll caress and put on some D’Angelo.’ I’m not that smooth.”

Tyson Beckford
Tyson Beckford

In sixth place is model Tyson Beckford. Once named one of the “50 Most Beautiful People in the World” by People magazine, Tyson began modeling in the 90’s and hasn’t aged a bit. With that flawless body and exotic eyes, no wonder he’s kept in front of the camera on the reality series “Make Me a Supermodel” where he co-hosts with supermodel Nikki Taylor.

Emile Hirsch
Emile Hirsch

Emile Hirsch, the star of “Alpha Dog” and “Speed Racer” has a bad boy look but loves to write poetry and screenplays. Fairly new to Hollywood, he surprised critics by winning three awards for his lead role in last year’s “Into the Wild.”

John Mayer
John Mayer

At number four is John Mayer. I don’t understand why he made the list as I find him extremely annoying but apparently women like him. Recently split with Jennifer Aniston, John is not ready to settle down.

Ryan Phillippe

Starting the top three countdown is sexy Ryan Phillippe. He says he can see himself getting married again but I think we know how that would turn out. As long as he has no female costars his future wife will have no worries. But in all honesty, he did make “Cruel Intentions” the hit it is today and he never looks bad shirtless.

Ryan Gosling
Ryan Gosling

Ryan Gosling - yes I agree - is on the list for that sexy scruff and charisma in front of the camera. Check out his 2007 movie “Fracture,” where he plays a driven attorney trying to prosecute manipulative criminal. He nails the role and looks great doing it. He’s also not afraid to speak about his feelings.

“I mean, God bless The Notebook,” the Oscar nominee says. “It introduced me to [ex Rachel McAdams] one of the great loves of my life.”

Chace Crawford
Chace Crawford

The number one eligible bachelor is the gorgeous Chace Crawford. Imagine those blue eyes staring at you across the bar. The Gossip Girl star from Texas just broke up with Carrie Underwood and wants to settle down somewhere in the country. Yes, sign me up please. Chace loves to joke around and wants a lady with a sense of humor.

“If [girls] laugh at my stupid jokes, then we’re off to getting married,” he says.

Well, there it is ladies. Eight hot men on one page. Your welcome.

Drew Barrymore and Kirsten Dunst Face Off

Who knew an average joe like Justin “The Mac Guy” Long would be the reason for a heated feud between two of Hollywood’s sweethearts. Drew Barrymore and Kirsten Dunst made it painfully obvious that they’d rather watch a Tara Reid movie than be anywhere near each other last Saturday. See photos and video below.

Kirsten DunstDrew Barrymore
Kirsten Dunst and Drew Barrymore

It all started when Justin and Drew’s highly publicized, 9-month long relationship came to a screeching halt this past July. The stars met on the set of their movie, “He’s Just Not That Into You.” She even celebrated Thanksgiving with him and his family in his hometown of Fairfield, CT! Drew suddenly dumped Justin and left him so distraught that he dropped out of a movie he was supposed to be in that she was directing. Soon after, who was there to pick up the pieces? Kirsten Dunst herself. The pair were in Los Angeles at Sunset Junction, and according to a source they were “making out hard-core while waiting in line for margaritas. They were holding hands and were all over each other.” A friend of Kirsten’s added: “She’s always had a bit of a crush on Justin.”

Fast forward to this past Saturday. The actresses were both backstage for the Saturday Night Live broadcast. Drew was hanging out with good friend Cameron Diaz, who was making a cameo on the show, while Kirsten was there supporting actor friend James Franco as he hosted the show. Kirsten and James starred in Spider-Man together. Witnesses state that the two starlets had such an “awkward run-in” that Franco had to deflect the situation by making a joke and dragging Kirsten away while Drew then fumed about it to Cameron.

After the SNL wrap up, the cast, joined by Gossip Girl stars Ed Westwick, Penn Badgley, Blake Lively and Chace Crawford, went to party at NYC hotspot Wildwood Barbeque. Drew and Kirsten were there and made sure to stay on opposite sides of the room. It was especially dangerous when they would both go outside for cigarette breaks throughout the night. I believe Justin got the last laugh in this one.

Unbreakable 2?

M. Night Shyamalan hit it big right off the bat with “Sixth Sense”, but since then he’s struggled to get back to that number one spot. Even with films like “Signs”, “The Village”, “Lady in the Water”, and “The Happening”, the screenwriter just hasn’t seen the success he initially experienced in Hollywood. The closest he’s come is “Stuart Little”, and that was a completely different genre. But now he’s looking at making a little comeback with the surprising story of “Unbreakable 2″.

M. Night Shyamalan

M. Night Shyamalan

Shyamalan was talking to MTV the other day, and said that he’s kicked the idea around quite a bit.

I tell you I get asked about it all the time, so it’s not [an idea] I ever forget… I genuinely just asked this question the other day — should I make ‘Unbreakable 2’? …I made the mistake of getting caught up in the hype of the immediate reaction of the movie, which, experience has shown me, is not accurate to any of my movies. And If I had been more confident and said ‘I believe in that movie, I love that movie, and I should just go start writing the second one,” that would’ve been the right move. I’ve still been thinking about it a lot and wonder if it’s too late.

In fact, it’s rumored that the first “Unbreakable” was set to be the first of a trilogy, and Samuel L. Jackson’s character would break out of the asylum to face off against Bruce Willis in a final battle.

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if “Unbreakable 2″ really happens. Until then we’ll just have to watch the “The Last Airbender” and see if the films have gotten any better since the last one.

Movies Releasing Friday - September 19

I’ve been waiting for this Friday for quite some time - a long week, what can I say? But we’ll see if the movies releasing Friday live up to the anticipation. Tomorrow we’ve got “My Best Friend’s Girl”, “Lakeview Terrace”, “Igor”, and “Ghost Town”.

My Best Friend s Girl

“My Best Friend’s Girl” Releases Friday

“My Best Friend’s Girl”

Starring Dane Cook, Kate Hudson, and Jason Biggs, this latest romantic comedy gives you just enough laughs during the preview to make you want to drop 10 bucks to see it. But then you remember that the lead character is played by Dane Cook. On the other hand, there’s a role for Alec Baldwin, who always brings the fire. After being dumped by Hudson, Biggs calls in Cook to play the jerk-date to make Hudson come crawling back. Unfortunately for Biggs, she ends up liking that sort of thing.

Cook did his part to promote the film when he took time on his blog to trash the movie’s poster. He said,

“Whoever photoshopped our poster must have done so at taser point with three minutes to fulfill their hostage takers’ deranged obligations. … [I look like I'm] wearing Maybelline Water Shine Diamonds Liquid Lipstick.”

“Lakeview Terrace”

Samuel L. Jackson is back for another thrill ride of a movie. This time it’s a suspenseful flick about an inter-racial couple that moves in next to Jackson, who just happens to be a deranged police officer. Trouble for the new homeowners is they’ve got no one to turn to when the cop goes crazy. But as skeptical as I am about this one (because honestly, when is the last time Samuel L. Jackson delivered), the critics seem to like it, with one even stating “the entertainment value is guaranteed”.

“Igor”

It’s time for some animated family fun, but it looks a little dark for the young’uns, so this might require an audience that’s just a bit older than the Nemo crowd. We find the title character, Igor (voiced by John Cusack), competing in the town science fair against some fierce competition. This is Igor’s chance to prove himself and the family’s chance to laugh along the way. It looks like this one will be a hit, especially with the kids still young enough to think science experiments are fun.

“Ghost Town”

Ricky Gervais is back in this comedy that also stars Greg Kinnear. Gervais plays a dentist who is not quite happy with life as it is, but who suddenly finds himself dealing with the ghosts who are stuck in the middle, trying to make it to the other side. The film also stars Tea Leoni and the always funny Kristen Wiig (of SNL fame). A family adventure and feel good movie, this one looks to be a hit.

George Clooney: ‘Men Who Stare at Goats’

Our beloved George Clooney is up to something strange. Apparently he is looking for actors to make up his cast for his new project, “Men Who Stare at Goats.” More photos of and video below.

George Clooney Hiring for new movie
George Clooney

Based on the book by the Guardian columnist Jon Ronson, “Goats” is set in Iraq and centers on Bob Wilton (McGregor), a desperate reporter who stumbles upon the story of a lifetime when he meets Lyn Cassady (Clooney), who claims to be a former secret U.S. military psychic soldier who was re¬activated post-9/11. Apparently, the movie offers glimpses into the supposedly real secret Army unit tasked with creating soldiers with paranormal powers.

Not only is Clooney serious about this project, but he already has big stars in negotiations! Ewan McGregor will play a reporter named Bob Wilton who stumbles onto the secret when he meets Clooney’s character who claims to be a psychic soldier. Oscar winner Kevin Spacey will be a former psychic soldier now running a prison camp in Iraq and Jeff Bridges will play Clooney’s mentor and the founder of the psychic program. Clooney, Grant Heslov and BBC Films are co-producing the movie and are hoping to start production in October.

With a story, title and cast like this you’re bound to hear more about “Men Who Stare at Goats.”

Mariah Carey’s New Film

It was about seven years ago that US pop star Mariah Carey’s movie “Glitter” bombed in the box office, sparking critics to labe it “disastrous.” Well she’s at it again in the road trip drama “Tennessee” in theaters in December. See more photos and video of Mariah Carey below.

Mariah Carey
Mariah Carey

The movie, directed by Lee Daniels and acquired by Vivendi Entertainment, debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York this spring. The storyline is about two lower-middle class brothers (Adam Rothenberg, Ethan Peck) who take to the road to resolve their economic and health challenges. Along the way they meet a waitress (Carey) whose dreams of a singing career have been dashed by a bad marriage. In the movie Carey performs the ballad “Right to Dream,” which she co-wrote with Willie Nelson.

The BBC’s Mark Savage watched the film at the Cannes Film Festival where it was also previewed and Aaron Woodley, from Time Out New York magazine also viewed the film. Both were surprisingly impressed.

“Carey is so good, in fact, that the film feels rather flat when she’s off-screen,” says Savage. Woodley adds, “Carey is surprisingly subdued here. She mostly keeps her celebrity complex at bay, allowing her to effectively embody her level headed Southern-gal character.”

We’ll see if third times a charm for Mariah Carey. Her first movie, “Glitter” earned just $4.3 million at the North American box. She also had a cameo role as herself in this summer’s comedy “You Don’t Mess with the Zohan.”

Nicole Kidman Tops List of Overpaid Stars

Forbes has turned their financial genius toward Hollywood in a recent report. They have used a system which factors in a movie’s revenues both internationally in theaters and on DVD, dividing the star’s total earnings by the films’ gross income to get the actor’s payback figure. See more photos and video below.

Overpaid star - Nicole Kidman
Overpaid star - Nicole Kidman

Due to the failure of last summer’s “The Invasion,” a remake of the 1956 classic “Invasion of the Body Snatchers”, Nicole Kidman has topped the list of overpaid stars. That movie lost $2.68 for every dollar Kidman was paid. On average, her movies only bring in a $1 for every dollar the actress is paid! Also on the top of the list are Tom Cruise, due to flops like “Lions for Lambs,” Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez, Drew Barrymore, Jim Carrey, Nicolas Cage and Jennifer Garner. Although Garner doesn’t demand that much money, her movies, including “The Kingdom” and “Catch and Release” just don’t make enough for her to be a “worthwhile investment.”

Apparently these celebrities do have a chance to get off this list. Thanks to the 2007 movie American Gangster, Russell Crowe is no longer known as an overpaid celebrity with a return of $6.88 for every dollar he earned. The movie, also starring Denzel Washington, returned a staggering $10.80 for every dollar Crowe was paid.

The (half) Year Best of the Best Awards

With only a few months left in the year its time to review the favorites in our movie categories. Based on a survey from OK! Magazine, readers voted on who they want to win. See photos and video below.

Half Year Best of the Best Awards

Male Star of the Year
Let’s start off with everyone’s favorite guy. The 44-year-old might not have released a movie so far this year but he’s always in our thoughts and magazines! Brad Pitt’s new movie Burn After Reading lands in theaters September 12th.

Female Star of the Year
Where there’s Pitt there’s Jolie. Not only has Angelina Jolie climbed the money tree in Hollywood this year with roles in both Kung Fu Panda and Wanted, but her twins have kept her in the news since January.

Most Scandalous Story
Although Hollywood is always full of surprises and scandals, it was Heath Ledger’s tragic death from a drug overdose that really concerned us. 38.9% of OK! readers thought that the calls his housekeeper made to Mary Kate Olsen before she dialed 911 made it the most scandalous story of the year so far.

Coolest First-Time Mom
Halle Berry gave birth to Nahla in March of this year and has been voted coolest mom. The 41-year-old just edged Nicole Richie and her baby, Harlow, into second place.

Most Entertaining Celebrity Feud
Among all the celebrity battles, Denise Richards and ex-husband Charlie Sheen seem to be the most amusing. It’s rumored that his marriage to Brooke Mueller has “kinda got under her skin” and she’s letting the world know it. As for Sheen, the ‘Two and a Half Men’ star, describes his marriage to Richards as a con and states that he’s been subject to “mind control” and “psychological terrorism” by Richards..oh boy.

All-Star Family of the Year
Watch out Lohans, the Spears family can’t catch a break which has kept on the front pages. Not only have we been immersed in Britney’s meltdowns, showdowns, comebacks and legal battles, but her little sister Jamie Lynn has topped her by getting pregnant at 16!

Villain of the Year
Speaking of Britney, voters have sympathized with her when it comes to her ex-manager, Sam Lutfi. He is being accused of manipulating Britney when she was at her most vulnerable and looked to him for support. Britney’s father soon took over and ousted Lutfi for good.

So there you have it. Let’s see if the list changes by the end of the year. So far, I think the voters are dead on.
