Can you believe that it has already been a whopping 14 years since the first Toy Story movie came out? That’s right, the trailer debuted on Entertainment Tonight recently, and boy was it awesome to hear Tom Hanks as the loveable cowboy Woody, and Tim Allen as the know it all Buzz Lightyear once again.

It began production in March 2008, and is set to premier on June 12, 2009.

Here’s The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 synopsis:

Robert Downey Jr’s Sherlock Holmes Trailer

The highly anticipated Sherlock Holmes movie trailer has finally been released. Check out cast pictures, plus the video trailer here.

Robert Downey Jr.

The latest movie in the Sherlock Holmes saga will star Robert Downey, Jr. as Holmes and Jude Law as Watson. The film is based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s legendary detective, and was directed by Guy Ritchie.

The newest installment of the film, named after the legendary fictional detective Sherlock Holmes, will be set in 1891, and revolves around Holmes and Watson preventing a plot to destroy Britain. The movie begins with Holmes capturing the vicious cult leader Lord Blackwood, who is played by Mark Strong. As Blackwood is being led to the gallows he makes a promise to resurrect from the dead and get revenge.

Warner Bros. released this official plot summary in May of 2009.

In a dynamic new portrayal of Arthur Conan Doyle’s most famous characters, Sherlock Holmes sends Holmes and his stalwart partner Watson on their latest challenge. Revealing fighting skills as lethal as his legendary intellect, Holmes will battle as never before to bring down a new nemesis and unravel a deadly plot that could destroy the country.

Watching the Sherlock Holmes Trailer has led me to this conclusion. The movie appears to be a captivating mystery, intertwined with a twist of dry humor, which is pulled off by an elite cast.

The film will star Robert Downey, Jr. as Sherlock Holmes, Jude Law as Dr. John Watson, Rachel McAdams as Irene Adler, Mark Strong as Lord Blackwood, Kelly Reilly as Mary Morstan, and Eddie Marsan as Inspector Lestrade.

Sherlock Holmes is set to be released December 25, 2009.

Mariah Carey’s Precious Trailer Video

Singing diva Mariah Carey is trying out her acting chops again in the new movie Precious - and to much better results than her last outings in Glitter and Wise Girls. Read the rest of the story and see the trailer below.

Mariah Carey 7

Mariah Carey is having quite the year-ish. Her marriage has long outlasted what the celeb gossip polls predicted, she had a hit album (who didn’t love ‘Touch My Body’??), and now her latest acting role is the talk of the town - and in a good way this time. Unlike her previous films Glitter and Wise Girls (the first of which racked up five Razzie nominations), Mariah’s performance is being heralded in the Oprah and Tyler Perry backed ‘Precious’. The movie, based on the book ‘Push’ by Sapphire, is a story about an HIV-positive teenager in Harlem who is pregnant with her second child and suffered sexual abuse at the hands of her father. Mariah goes without makeup, and dons a terrible wig and dowdy outfits to play a social worker that Precious sees in order to collect state benefits. Also starring in the film are Mo’Nique, Lenny Kravitz, and Sherri Sheppard.

Of the gritty drama, Mariah says:

“I was just honored to be a part of it. It’s really something that’s so strong and different and I think that it’s really going to enlighten a lot of people and help a lot of people.”

The movie, currently at the Cannes Film Festival, has been well received by audiences - it won the Grand Jury and Audience awards at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival. Precious was picked up by Lionsgate, and is set for release in November 2009.

Martin Scorsese’s Frank Sinatra Movie

Martin Scorsese has decided to tackle the huge project of putting actor and singer Frank Sinatra’s life into a few short hours. After flirting with the idea for some time, Scorsese is finally making a Frank Sinatra biopic. Read the rest of the story below, and see photos and video of Frank Sinatra and Martin Scorsese.

Frank Sinatra 3

Legendary filmmaker (and legendary eyebrow owner) Martin Scorsese is finally getting to make the Frank Sinatra biopic that he’s been flirting with on and off for decades. He is teaming up with Universal Pictures and Mandalay Pictures, and will direct and produce the film. Phil Alden Robinson has been tapped to write the screen play.

Execs from Universal and Mandalay have been quietly working on this project for two years, and have secured the life and music rights from Frank Sinatra Enterprises, which is a joint venture of the Sinatra Estate and Warner Music Group. They said getting the rights to his life and music wasn’t an easy task. Describing it as “very complicated,” Cathy Schulman said:

“The responsibility we are taking on to tell his story — that would cause anyone to be very careful about who they grant these rights to,” she added. “Everyone knows that Marty Scorsese is a final-cut director. So there had to be a lot of trust that he would tell this story in a way that didn’t destroy (Sinatra’s) memory.”

No actor has been attached to the film yet, but execs say Leonardo DiCaprio is the “obvious” choice given his awesomely hott babyface and his ability to both seduce the ladies and be pretty scary when need be. Also, Scorsese clearly has a strong love for Leo, as he has cast him in several of his recent films - Gangs of New York, The Aviator, The Departed, and Shutter Island, which is currently in post-production. Since execs scored the music rights to Ole Blue Eyes’ catalogue, Leo wouldn’t need to have much musical ability to play the legendary actor and singer.

With Franky’s many romances, possible mafia connections, and famous friendships, this definitely promises to be an amazing movie.

More photos and a video of Martin Scorsese and Frank Sinatra are below.
