Actress Elizabeth Taylor will be going into the hospital to undergo heart surgery, a new procedure that will repair a leaky valve. Read more about her hospitalization below.

Taylor was diagnosed with congestive heart failure in 2004 and has been wheelchair bound for several years now.

Dame Elizabeth took to her Twitter page to announce that she would be going into the hospital to have the surgery. She said:

“Dear Friends, I would like to let you know before it gets in the papers that I am going into the hospital to have a procedure on my heart. It’s very new and involves repairing my leaky valve using a clip device, without open heart surgery, so that my heart will function better. Any prayers you happen to have lying around I would dearly appreciate. I’ll let you know when it’s all over. Love you, Elizabeth”

The 77-year-old screen legend has had a host of medical conditions through the years – removal of a benign brain tumor, skin cancer, pneumonia and both of her hips replaced.

She’s been tweeting since March 31 and has just under 160,000 followers. She most recently tweeted about Kathy Ireland on Dancing With the Stars, remarking how beautiful Ireland is and urging her fans to vote for her. Taylor did not feel that the judges were fair to her. Unfortunately, Ireland was voted off last week.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you Ms. Taylor. Here’s to a speedy recovery! You can see a video of her below.
