The highly anticipated movie is based on J.K. Rowling’s novel of the same title. Originally scheduled for November 2008 release, we may need to crank it up a notch with the adjectives and call this movie agonizingly anticipated as it is set for release months later, July 15, 2009.
Mercifully, the studio eases our unconsoled anticipation with the occasional movie trailer.
As with previous trailers, this new ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ trailer video shows us more dark and foreboding scenes, quite chilling for a PG rating, with a voiceover delivering a cautionary tale of a young boy who studies the magic craft and not to good effect.
Unfortunately, it would imply the unpleasant fate of Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) and his friends he begins his sixth year at Hogwards while Lord Voldemort is filling Great Britain with terror and turmoil. Harry will stop at nothing to defeat him. He knows he must also help Dumbledore find the secret of Voldemort’s quest for immortality; the location of his Horcruxes.
Along with being visually dazzled and frankly frightened we are also treated to some previously unseen footage of Professor McGonagall, Luna Lovegood and Narcissa Malfoy in the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince trailer video.
At 19, Daniel Radcliffe is Harry Potter once again. He is joined by returning Harry Potter movies cast members, Rupert Alexander as Ron Weasley, Emma Watson as Hermione Granger, with celebrated British actor Sir Michael Gambon as Albus Dumbledore. The movie was directed by David Yates, who also directed the fifth movie in the series, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. David Heyman and David Barron are the producers and the screenplay is by Steve Kloves, who also wrote the screenplays for the first four movies in the series.
