James Franco wears a fake boy in his new film “Milk.” His prosthetic manhood was so impressive, co-star Sean Penn thought it was real.

The film is a biopic on Harvey Milk, California’s first openly gay elected official. Milk was elected to San Francisco’s Board of Supervisors in 1977. A year later, he and George Moscone, the mayor, were shot to death by former city supervisor, Dan White. Penn plays Milk while Josh Brolin takes on the role of Dan White. Rumor has it Matt Damon was originally supposed to play White. Franco plays Penn’s love interest.

As for the nude scene involving Franco and Penn, it takes place at a swimming pool.

“This scene went on for a long time, like half the day, and it’s getting old… and I go over to Sean and I guess he didn’t know that I was wearing a prosthetic. “I go, `Sean, you’re such a great actor but you wouldn’t do a scene like this if they asked you; you wouldn’t dive into a pool naked.’ “And he said… `Well James, if I was built like you, I would.’

As filming continued, Sean eventually figured out the secret behind Franco’s gift of gerth. How do you get that job…fake winky builder? And how about Franco? He went from “Spiderman 3,” to” Pineapple Express,” to this film all while taking classes at UCLA. In the fall he’ll be attending two graduate schools.

“Milk” opens December 5th but you can see more photos and video of James Franco below.
