‘Marley and Me’ topped the weekend box office charts for the second week in a row, and managed to cross the $100 million mark after only 10 days in release. It became the 25th movie released in 2008 to cross that coveted threshold. While the top seven in the top ten did not change from last week, ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, which is in very limited release, managed to grow its audience and moved back onto the chart.

Tom Cruise’s comeback movie ‘Valkyrie’, despite being widely panned before anyone saw so much as a frame, seems to be holding steady – good news for MGM’s United Artists, who are hitching much of their future on the World War II epic.

Jim Carrey’s ‘Yes Man’ continues to steadily earn money, and appears as if it will net around the same money that his last big comedy, ‘Fun with Dick and Jane’, did at $110 million. ‘Yes Man’ currently sits at $79.4 million after 17 days in theaters. In bad news for Will Smith, ‘Seven Pounds’ may not cross the $100 million mark, which would end his streak of 8 straight movies that did so. Fitting for a movie that also ended his streak of consecutive #1 openings.

Frank Miller’s ‘The Spirit’ is turning out to be a major disaster. After 11 days in theaters, the film hasn’t cracked the $18 million mark, and it fell from 9th to 13th place this weekend.
