Shortly after the death of Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett, false rumors that actor Jeff Goldblum died began to surface. Eventually becoming the number two searched topic on Google Trends with the most common searches being “Jeff Goldblum died / dead / dies / death” and “Jeff Goldblum New Zealand”. We know it’s a hoax because of several credible sources that have stepped forth, including Goldblum’s publicist, who released a statement saying that the “Independence Day” star is alive, and Perez Hilton who simply said “stop the rumors”.
The original tale of how the actor died was that he fell 60 ft from the Kauri Cliffs while filming a new movie in New Zealand.
In light of all the tragedy that took place this week it comes as great news that Jeff Goldblum isn’t dead and that he is still around to bring us more classic movies like Jurassic Park, The Fly, Powder, and Nine Months.

I’m very pleased Jeff is still alive. It’s bad enough to have 2 celebrities pass away on the same day, without someone sending out hoaxes like this.
I was thinking that what if his Mother was still alive (and maybe she is), but what if she heard the rumours and had a heart attack or something. It’s definitely a dumb thing to do.
