Actor Jeremy Renner Is Hawkeye? That’s the latest casting news going around the web regarding Jeremy Renner’s upcoming role in the movie ‘The Avengers’. Get the details here on the rumors surrounding Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye!

Jeremy Renner recently sat down with the head guys of Marvel to discuss his possible role as a superhero in the upcoming movie The Avengers. Nothing is set in stone as of yet but that doesn’t mean much. The possibilities are there!

And although some were thinking Jeremy Renner could be cast in the open role of Captain America, the actor disclosed that the part was not offered to him. No big deal though, Renner appears to be interested in the role of Hawkeye anyways!

“I don’t know if I’d be right for Captain America. I met with the Marvel guys, actually, but we didn’t talk about Captain America. But one of the writers, Zak Penn, we’ve become friends over time and he was thinking maybe Hawkeye could be interesting. He sounds like an interesting character.”

This latest speculation has comic book fans everywhere curious to know if in fact Hawkeye will be present in the big screen production of Thor, due out in 2011, and The Avengers, to be released in May of 2012. If in fact he is, fans everywhere will be pleased!

“If I was a betting man, I would bet that Hawkeye would probably show up in Thor, and then be in The Avengers… But do I know for sure? I can’t say. But I’d love for that to happen. It’d be fun.”

In the meantime speculation and rumors will have to do since Renner, nor any other source on the project, are letting the cat out of the bag.

“I’m just happy to get considered for big franchise roles like that… I’m not [doing the] casting. If they see me that way, right on. If they don’t, I’m ok with it.”
