Jett Travolta is John Travlota’s eldest son, who tragically died last January. Jett’s story is being revived as the family heads back to Nassau to testify in the extortion case.
January 2, 2009 will forever be a day of sadness and heartache for the Travolta family. While vacationing in the Bahamas, John Travlota’s only son, Jett died.
Jett was just 16 years old, and was known to suffer from seizures, and he also suffered from Kawasaki disease. According to reports, his parents were very protective and had a nanny with him when they were not around to prevent Jett from rarely being alone.
New Years day had been a long one, a filled day of water activities, and so Jett kissed his father and went up to bed with his nanny. According to reports, Jett fell and hit his head on the bathtub, after apparently suffering a seizure. CPR was done, but Jett was unresponsive and died.
After suffering the heartbreak of losing a child – their only son, John and his wife Kelly, had to deal with the stress of being a high profile celebrity. Then, paramedic Tarino Lightbourne and former Bahamian Sen. Pleasant Bridgewater, allegedly tried to benefit from Jett’s death. They are currently on trial for allegedly threatening to release a medical document about Jett’s death, unless John agreed to pay them $25 million.
John has been in a Nassau court, where the trial is taking place, testifying about the events surrounding his son’s death. One of the more interesting facts people are going wild about, is that John “finally” admitted that his son was autistic, a disease that John and Kelly were accused of ignoring due to their belief in Scientology. This is ridiculous to me – we do not know the medical treatment that Jett was receiving, what he was or wasn’t diagnosed with – only what the family chose to share with the public, which in my eyes is very open of them. Their children’s medical records or issues are not for the world to know about or judge. They are private, just as yours and mine are.
I hope that this case is settled soon, and the Travlotas can go back to healing and dealing with the grief.
