Actor John Cusack in The Raven?! Yes, it’s true! The forty-four year old veteran performer, who has graced the screen in blockbuster flicks like Better Off Dead and High Fidelity, recently confirmed his attachment to the thriller via twitter. Set to portray the famous poet, Cusack tweeted that he will “play Edgar Allan Poe in fall-a-film called The Raven.”
Cusack also added “send any Poe gold my way as I begin this journey into the abyss.” Helming the thriller will be V for Vendetta director James McTeigue who is also responsible for The Last Ninja, with a script from writers Ben Livingston and Hannah Shakespeare.
John Cusack In The Raven will be a “fictionalized account of the last days of Edgar Allan Poe’s life, in which the poet is in pursuit of a serial killer whose murders mirror those in the writer’s stories.” Shooting will reportedly begin this coming October with a cast line up yet to be announced. In other news, the Illinois native, who was recently seen in Hot Tub Time Machine and 2012, just completed work on the set of The Factory where he plays the on screen character Mike Fletcher in a story that follows “an obsessed cop is on the trail of a serial killer prowling the streets of Buffalo, N.Y. but when his teenage daughter disappears, he drops any professional restraint to get the killer.”
