John Lennon Film: Nowhere Boy (Video)

The movie will chronicle the mega icon’s teenage years, taking us through the highlights of his younger years as he discovers his love of music, is raised by his Aunt, and deals with family issues with his mother after she leaves him.

The movie is based on the book, ‘Imagine This: Growing Up with My Brother John Lennon’, written by Lennon’s half sister Julia Baird. Playing John Lennon in the movie will be actor Aaron Johnson. In the role of John’s Mother and Aunt will be Anne Marie Duff and Kristin Scott Thomas. Nowhere Boy will be directed by Sam Taylor-Wood (her directorial debut) with the script written by Matt Greenhalgh.

Director Sam Taylor-Wood comments on the difficulty and accuracy of taking on the John Lennon Film, Nowhere Boy…..

“There are often versions of truth. Maybe if you’d spoken to Mimi she’d have had one version and Julia, his mother, would have had another version. So as much as possible I think it’s pretty close.”

“I think I went into it fairly naively. It wasn’t really until I spent a lot of time in Liverpool and walking around that it started to dawn on me the magnitude of the subject matter I’d taken on. And there were moments when I thought, ‘I just can’t handle this, this is too big.’”

The John Lennon Film, Nowhere Boy, will be released in UK Theaters on Christmas Day with a US release date yet to be confirmed.
