On The Red Carpet and several other sites have confirmed Johnny Depp’s ’21 Jump Street’ cameo has officially been confirmed in the Jonah Hill remake! Get the scoop on Depp’s returning role in the cop drama and more casting news from around the web.
After appearing back in the late 80’s as Officer Tom Hanson in the TV show 21 Jump Street, Johnny Depp has confirmed through his rep that he will be returning to his roots and is set to make a cameo in the upcoming reboot being penned by Jonah Hill. The recreation also stars Step Up actor Channing Tatum (in Depp’s former role), as well as Jake Johnson, Rob Riggle, DeRay Davis, Dave Franco, Brie Larson, and Ice Cube.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star’s role in the March 2012 release has yet to be confirmed but after saying “no” on Letterman, and then changing his mind, I’m sure fans will just be happy to see the talented actor back on Jump Street.
In other casting news, Kristin Bell is possibly in talks to star in the Hunger Games. That’s the thought at least after the Veronica Mars starlet shared her love for the books as early as last year. Tweeting away about how much of a fan she is, and campaigning for a spot, SlashFilm.Com believes Bell could be going for the role of Johanna Mason! Still speculation, we’ll keep you posted.
And while we’re sure you movie buffs have heard all the hot details behind World War Z, just in case – actress Mirielle Enos is now officially its latest addition, in the movie that stars Brad Pitt. Enos of The Killing fame will play Pitt’s wife in the movie that centers on a UN bureaucrat by the name of Gerry Lane, and a post-zombie apocalyptic world.
Fast Five’s Paul Walker has signed on to a new project, an indie film he will not only star in but executive produce as well. Titled Vehicle 19, the movie follows a tourist whose travels turn dangerous when he finds himself in a “web of corruption by the local police.” Filming will kick off this summer in South Africa with a release date slated for sometime next year.
Meanwhile, Arnold Schwarzenegger is back in the swing of things when it comes to his absent career in acting. Yes, the former Governor is reclaiming his role in the The Terminator franchise! Can you believe it?! I thought Arnold was done, but I guess not. The actor is working out plans to star in director Justin Lin’s new project. Not much else is known as of yet.
High School Musical heart throb Zac Efron is also in the news with his recent casting in the forthcoming movie Die in a Gunfight from director Anthony Mandler . Leaving those bubblegum roles behind, Efron seems to be switching gears, recreating himself into an adult star! Especially with this latest tidbit that the Charlie St. Cloud actor will now portray a “deadbeat son of a successful New York attorney who falls in love with the daughter of his father’s nemesis.”
