Josh Brolin has been added to the Coen Bother’s upcoming movie True Grit. The film is a remake of the 1969 John Wayne western film by the same name.
Brolin will play a murderer on the loose who is being followed by two uniforms. Also added to the cast is actor Matt Damon. The Good Will Hunting star will be the one tailing Brolin’s on screen character with his partner, Jeff Bridges, playing the infamous John Wayne.
True Grit is originally from a novel written by Charles Portis and the movie starring John Wayne. The story centers around US Marshall Rooster Cogburn who is hired by a fourteen year old girl to find killer Tom Chaney in Indian territory after he murders her father.
The Coen Brother’s (who have received mixed opinions on the project) version of True Grit will be told by the fourteen year old girl’s point of view. The screenplay for the flick was written by the Coens and their partner Scott Rudin. Executive producer on the project will be Adam Goodman. A release date for the western has yet to be announced.
