Lauren Conrad Book: LA Candy Movie?

Lauren Conrad optioning LA Candy for a movie?

After leaving The Hills, Lauren Conrad has proven that her 15 minutes of fame will last beyond a staged reality television show. She penned the book LA Candy, which has become a bestselling novel. The book is part of a three book deal, and Lauren says she has already finished the first draft of part 2.

Apparently, while working on her second book, she’s also found time to work on a big screen adaptation of La Candy. In an interview, she said:

“We’re hoping for a movie deal. I’m working on (adapting the book) right now, but I don’t want to commit to anything until I see all my options. We have had a lot of exciting news in that respect, though.”

While I don’t follow all the real drama of The Hills, I have to say I never expected to see LC involved in a movie that didn’t involve Speidi, Lo, ceiling eyes Audrina, and the rest of the Hills cast.

The big looming question - will Lauren take on the challenge of playing herself… er… main character Jane Roberts in the silver screen version of LA Candy? She said “I haven’t even thought about it,” but I find that hard to believe for a girl who seems to be very carefully building her empire.

And for those of you asking, while former cast mate Kristin Cavallari questioned if the book (and by default in-progress big screen adaptation) was ghostwritten by someone else, LC states unequivocally that she wrote LA Candy, and does not feel she needs to defend that. She says she’s been writing “forever,” and thinks it’s absurd that she would hide behind a ghostwriter.

Guess we’ll see if LA Candy ever makes it to a theater near you. Would go you watch it if it did?
