Jon and Kate Gosselin’s messy high profile divorce is soon to be the premise behind Law & Order’s October 16th episode titled Reality Bites.
The crime drama will feature a storyline similar to the Jon and Kate saga. The episode will center around two fictitious families, Larry Plus 10 and an Octomom, as they compete for their own reality show.
Speaking out about the upcoming episode, Law & Order executive producer Rene Balcer stated:
“It seems to be coming at a good time. Aside from people being amused, bemused, disgusted and shocked at their exploits, [people] are probably looking for some other perspective on it.”
Although Jon and Kate seem to be the main inspiration of the show, the writers of Law and Order aren’t stopping there. They have also added in a few more characters straight from the newspaper headlines.
“The original inspiration was the murder of the couple in Florida who had a whole house full of special-needs kids that they had adopted and they had nothing to do with reality TV. As we started working on that story, all the stuff with Jon & Kate Plus Eight, the Octomom and those couple of other shows with families with multiples started to feed into that.”
