Meryl Streep’s daughter, Mamie Gummer, is in the news today as the blonde beauty has revealed that she is engaged to fellow actor Ben Walker.
According to PEOPLE, Walker asked for her hand in marriage on Sunday while on bended knee. Gummer said her family - Mom Meryl, Dad Don Gummer and her siblings are thrilled with the news - “They’re all very happy…we’re very, very smiley.”
The ring reportedly is modest in nature, custom made in fact, but he won’t reveal where he had the ring made.
Mamie, 25, (whose birth name is Mary), 25, and Walker, 27, met in April 2008, while the two were appearing on Broadway in Dangerous Liaisons. They started dating shortly thereafter.
I bet you didn’t know that Gummer made her first silver screen debut at the age of 2 - she played her mother’s daughter in the 1986 flick Heartburn, and Jack Nicholson played her father. She holds the movie dear to her heart, saying:
“I still get residuals from Heartburn. A couple times a year I get a check for $80. I love watching that movie. Whenever I’m having a bad day, me and my sisters turn it on.”
She would later appear in The Hoax, All Saints Day, Stop-Loss and the HBO miniseries John Adams, just to name a few. Looks like Meryl Streep’s daughter is following in her footsteps. You can see more Mamie Gummer photos plus video below.
