New movie Friday is coming! I was convinced that Katherine Heigl’s “The Ugly Truth” was coming out this Friday, but I am sadly mistaken - in fact, I’ve got two more weeks before I can hit up my cheesy chick flick with some Gerard Butler-flavored eye candy. But this week is not a loss - we have two sure-to-be box office hits: “Bruno” and “I Love You, Beth Cooper”.

Sacha Baron Cohen

Bruno

Sacha Baron Cohen is back with yet another one of his hysterical, ridiculous personalities that can embarrass like no one else. While Borat was a sex-crazed straight man from Kazakhstan, Bruno is an openly gay fashionista from Austria. Bruno is a television reporter who dupes a variety of unsuspecting people with interviews on topics ranging from fashion and entertainment to homosexuality. I have a feeling this one is going to top the charts this weekend. After the success of “Borat”, and Sacha Baron Cohen’s brilliance in bringing out the true side of people and catching it all on film, you can’t go wrong.

I Love You, Beth Cooper

When the nerdy valedictorian professes his love for the class hottie Beth Cooper (played by Hayden Panettiere), the proverbial s–t hits the fan. After the public proclamation, Beth shows up at Denis’ door and proceeds to show him the night of his life. Will it be love? It might be between the characters, but don’t count on some fan-movie love. As one reviewer explains,

Columbus has made a boring, by-the-numbers film, filled with dozens of idiotic sequences that seem to be pulled from countless other teenage flicks. None of it is funny, none of it is endearing and most of it is unenjoyable and quite tedious to watch.
