DWTS is planning a Patrick Swayze tribute next week. He lost his battle with cancer on Monday and since then many celebrities have also paid tribute to the actor and dancer.
Patrick Swayze was a phenomenal actor and dancer, who made some of the most memorable movies, notably Dirty Dancing and Ghost.
In 2008 he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and underwent several treatment options. He lost that battle on Monday September 14, 2009 with his family at his side.
Dancing was in his blood, as his mother, Patsy Swayze, was a choreographer and owned a dance school in Houston. He was one of the few top male actors to implement dancing into his craft, and stands out as a unique talent of our time.
Since his death, fans have flocked to his Hollywood star and home, leaving candles and flowers. Many celebrities have expressed their sadness over losing the actor, including his former co-stars Whoopi Goldburg and Demi Moore.
“Patrick you are loved by so many, and your light will forever shine in all of our lives,” Moore said in a statement.
Whoopi Goldberg remembered him as a “really good man, a funny man, and one to whom I owe much that I can’t ever repay. I believe in ‘Ghost’s’ message, so he’ll always be near.”
In 2005, Patrick made a guest appearance on the reality show Dancing With The Stars, where he taught his friend, John O’Hurley some tricks, and cheered him on from the crowd. DWTS will pay tribute to Patrick in their September 23 live results show. That should be an amazing show, and I can not wait to see how they pull it off. We will post video of that when it is up.
We have truly lost an inspiring, amazing human being. Readers, tell us your thoughts. What was your favorite Patrick Swayze movie and why?

Now that Dancing With the Stars has made dancing of major interest in the entertainment world again (remember the wonderful Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers movie musicals?), it is sad to think that Patrick will not be around to take a major part in the looming dance revival.
As an elderly actor myself who could also sing and dance in years gone by, I look forward to seeing some good song and dance movies in future and will miss Patrick’s presence in them.
I tried to lead him to a legitimate cure for his cancer (www.cancerfungus.com) but was unsuccessful…so he died.
Do hope he had his passport (Luke 9:23) stamped for heaven when he left. Must not leave without that.
