Here is the first official movie trailer for “Push”, a sci-fi thriller starring Chris Evans and Dakota Fanning. The movie will be released in theaters February 6, 2009. See photos and the trailer here.
“Push” chronicles the story of a group of young American expatriates with telekinetic and clairvoyant abilities who are hiding from a U.S. government agency in Hong Kong. The children band together and use their extraordinary abilities to escape.
Their leader is Nick Gant (Chris Evans), the son of a man who was genetically altered to be the perfect government assassin. When his father is murdered, Nick plots revenge on Division, the covert government agency that created him. He teams up with 13-year-old Cassie Holmes (Dakota Fanning) who has the ability to see the future.
It is a compelling premise, and judging from the trailer–admittedly, it is not always easy to judge a movie from a trailer–the movie comes across as gripping and suspenseful. It is fascinating to watch the display of these remarkable abilities, while shuddering at the thought of the government turning such special people into pawns in deadly warfare.
There are a bunch of different types of psychic abilities: A watcher can see the future, A mover is telekinetic, Sniffers who can see the history of an object, Shifts can temporarily change the shape of things, Wipers can wipe your memory, and pushers can put thoughts in other people’s heads. The divisions are trying to develop a drug which would allow normal people to develop psychic abilities, but apparently every test so far has been fatal.
“Push” was directed by Paul McGuigan, written by David Bourla and produced by Bruce Davey for Summit Entertainment. The movie costars Camilla Belle, Djimon Hounsou, Maggie Siff, and Scott Michael Campbell.
Chris Evans starred in “Not Another Teen Movie,” “Cellular” “Fantastic Four (as Johnny Storm/Human Torch) and “Street Kings.” Fourteen-year-old Dakota Fanning began acting at age five and rose to fame with “I Am Sam” in 2001 and has also starred in “War of the Worlds,” Charlotte’s Web,” “Man on Fire,” and “The Secret Life of Bees.”
