Over the past month, Warner Bros. has been vigorously searching for the right person to play the title character in the upcoming superhero thriller “Green Lantern”. Today they have announced that their search may finally be over, selecting Hollywood hunk Ryan Reynolds for the role.

The DC Comics based film had a few serious candidates to play the lead, holding screen tests for Bradley Cooper, Jared Leto, and Justin Timberlake. One of the main issues that made for such a lengthy casting process was that director Martin Campbell, producers Donald De Line and Greg Berlanti, and the studio all liked different finalists, which made it tough to come to a consensus.

Reynolds, recently starring in the 20th Century Fox film “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” will be the only actor to have played a comic-book character for both Marvel and DC if the deal goes through.
