The Salt Movie Reviews are in and once again it looks like actress Angelina Jolie has made another blockbuster hit. Find out why here, read reviews, with photos and videos after the jump of Jolie.
Honestly, when Salt movie promotions and trailers began appearing on the horizon in anticipation of its release this week on July 23rd, I quickly dismissed the flick as a boring cookie cutter production featuring the likes of the over-exposed Jolie. Well I was wrong. Reviews have been pouring in and the general consensus is that Angelina Jolie kicks some serious ass in a must see thriller, maybe even James Bond’s ass! (Kidding) Read what critics had to say and get the official synopsis before you go.
Here’s the rundown on Salt..
“As a CIA officer, Evelyn Salt swore an oath to duty, honor and country. Her loyalty will be tested when a defector accuses her of being a Russian spy. Salt goes on the run, using all her skills and years of experience as a covert operative to elude capture. Salt’s efforts to prove her innocence only serve to cast doubt on her motives, as the hunt to uncover the truth behind her identity continues and the question remains: “Who is Salt?” Written by Sony Pictures
Now on to the Salt Movie Reviews…
ABC News had a positive take on actress Angelina Jolie as CIA Officer and suspected spy, Evelyn Salt, in the Phillip Noyce directed movie:
“While preposterous at every turn, “Salt” is a better Bond movie than most recent Bond movies, as its makers keep the stunts real and severely limit CGI gimmickry. This is a slick, Lite summer entertainment that should throw consider coin into Sony’s coffers while re-establishing (if it needs re-establishing) Jolie’s bona fides as an action star.”
And well I heard buzz previously that a man was supposed to be cast in Salt, I was never really quite sure, but that seems to be the case per The Canadian Press, who also chimed in with positive reviews:
“It’s intriguing that, while a man originally was the main character in Kurt Wimmer’s script (and reportedly was to be played by Tom Cruise), making Salt a woman in no way depletes the film of its brawniness. But Jolie expressed interest in playing James Bond a few years back, and voila — Edwin Salt became Evelyn Salt. No actress working today is as convincing an action star as Jolie, and she does tear it up here; the fight scenes are visceral, not balletic like the “Tomb Raider” movies or supernaturally trippy as in “Wanted.”
TheNational.Com was just as impressed as several other critics who posted early reviews:
“Salt is a movie about fundamentals, not quirkiness. Jolie is here to prove that a woman spy can run and fight and kill with the male action stars. She clears that hurdle, just as she did as Lara Croft and Jane Smith. In the sequel that’s sure to follow, we might get some surprises.”
Written by Law Abiding Citizen’s Kurt Wimmer, Salt is looking good and is sure to do well at the box office! Aside from Angelina Jolie, the heart racing picture also features a strong cast line up of actors Liev Schreiber, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Daniel Olbrychski, August Diehl, Daniel Pearce, Hunt Block and actress Andre Braugher.
