Wizards of Waverly Place actress Selena Gomez will play a girl with super powers in the What Boys Want movie. The flick is a comedy in development through New Line/Warner Brothers.
The Former Barney and Friends alumni will take the lead role as a teenage girl who has the ability to read thoughts of the opposite sex. Yes, we have seen this premise done a thousand times before but I’m sure with Gomez’s large fan base the movie is sure to be a success.
What Boys Want was penned by Amy Andelson (You Know My Name) and Emily Meyer. Both writers are also known for their work in Step Up 3D. Signed on to produce Selena Gomez in What Boys Want will be Kevin Misher and Allen Fisher. Mandy Teefey, Gomez’s mother, is scheduled to executive produce the project.
Selena’s acting credits include both The Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie and Princess Protection Program. Gomez is also attached to Ramona and Beezus, playing the the role of Beezus Quimby. The movie comes from the books of novelist Beverly Cleary.
