Spiderman screenwriter Gary Ross will be writing the script (as well as directing) for the new Venom movie. Get the details on the forthcoming Marvel Comics super villain flick here!
Columbia Pictures has reportedly hired respected writer Gary Ross to hatch up a storyline about Spiderman’s arch enemy Venom.
Venom, who ranks as one of the all time greatest villains, is an alien creature with superhuman strength, and liquid center, that previously latched onto to Peter Parker.
Previously attached to the Venom script before Ross was Zombieland duo Paul Werrick and Rhett Reese. Jacob Estes was also hired on at one point to bring Venom to the big screen. I’m not sure why the movie didn’t come to life then but I am sure fans are excited about screenwriter Gary Ross’ involvement in the project.
Production on Venom is rumored to be kicking off after Gary Ross finishes up on his latest project, Spiderman 4. Meanwhile there has been rumors circulating the web on whether Topher Grace (Eric from That 70’s Show) will be portraying Venom. Grace played Venom back in Spiderman . Several different sources are citing that Topher will be taking on the role while others are reporting that the producers of Venom will be looking for a new face. Filming is said to be kicking off sometime in March of 2010.
