Syfy’s Stargate Universe is canceled?! Get the news surrounding the sci-fi series’ last season and why it got the axe. Plus check out videos and photos of Stargate’s cast Ming-Na and Lou Diamond Phillips with a fan made tribute paying homage to SGU!
The Syfy network has decided to cancel Stargate Universe after the final ten episodes of season 2 air. Making the decision based on its low ratings, TV heads pulled the plug after Stargate failed to meet numbers, “recently averaging a 0.5 in 18-49.”
Stargate Universe fans are of course disappointed beyond belief to discover that their favorite sci-fi series won’t be sticking around after next Spring. The series featured a multitude of well known stars, like the above shown Lou Diamond Phillips, Ming-Na, Robert Carlyle, David Blue and Louis Ferreira, but somehow couldn’t manage to stay afloat.
The SGU series followed the Destiny crew as they attempted to make their way home, fighting their way through alien attacks and other life threatening enemies. From creators Robert C. Cooper and Brad Wright, Stargate Universe’s cancellation comes far to early since the masterminds behind the series planned to run the story for a reported five seasons. SGU is the last and latest to get the axe from the family of Stargate TV series’, previously Caprica was also canceled after lack of viewership.
Meanwhile Syfy has lined up a new round of returning series as well as new pilots to fill their slate. Per Deadline, you can see Warehouse 13, Eureka and Haven, along with the new series Being Human, the new pilot series Alphas and Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome.

Gotta make more room for wrestling and ghost shows! Suck a dick, SyFy.

Best show on SyFy and the only show worth watching on SyFy…..This is a mistake and we will miss the show.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAW

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAW! SGU always SUCKED. It came nowhere near close to the excellence of the other Stargate series and, frankly, bored me and every other loyal SG fan to sleep.
No offense to the creators of Stargate, who in my opinion are still geniuses. But before the pilot aired, when I first heard the phrase “targeting younger audiences” I knew it wouldn’t go the distance.
Canceled? THANK GOD!

SGU is an intelligent, thought-provoking show; its not surprising that most Americans dont watch it. Its first season lacked action-filled sequences with aliens and explosions (although it had some) and instead developed some of the most elaborate and startlingly convincing characters I have ever seen on TV. Bravo to the creators for taking such a risk. SYFY please reconsider!

I watched every episode. Stargate is the “only” reason i still tune in the Sy-fy. They still have a couple of sci-fi shows running, but those dont interest me.

A lot of people are switching to hulu, or netflix to watch tv shows. When syfy cancels their best shows do they even consider this? They have like 5-6 different ghost shows that are terrible. I was looking forward to more stargate, the atlantis series was my all time favorite stargate universe I was hoping would grow to be even better with the newer technolgy. I am completely upset this show was canceled. I would cancel any other show hands down even 10 or 12 other syfy shows over universe.

It makes me sick to my stomach. I can’t believe it. Poor scheduling & reprogramming took toll on a brilliant show with an dedicated fan base. This isn’t just the end of this series, it’s the end of the franchise. There will never be another Stargate. It’s sad sad day. SyFy will regret this decision in the end
