Gorgeous Canadian actor Taylor Kitsch will start shooting the movie John Carter of Mars in Utah this coming month. Kitsch is playing John Carter in the Disney movie based on the books by novelist Edgar Rice Burrough.

Set to star alongside Taylor as Dejah Thoris, Carter’s love interest, will be actress Lynn Collins who has been seen most recently in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and HBO’s True Blood as Dawn Green. The movie revolves around a military veteran who somehow is transported to planet Mars where he must face green creatures and the Princess of Helium.

Andrew Stanton of Wall-E, Mark Andrews and Michael Chabon all collaborated on the script. Stanton is also scheduled to direct the Disney flick, John Carter of Mars. The movie is scheduled to be released sometime in 2012. In the meantime you can catch Taylor Kitsch in the fourth season of Friday Night Lights as well as The Bang Bang Club in 2010.
