The Pregnancy Pact Movie premiered on Lifetime this past Saturday. The movie centered around the 18 girls, from Gloucester High School, that decided to get pregnant on purpose back in 2008.

Made into a TV movie by Lifetime the flick features actresses Thora Birch and Camryn Manheim. It is said to be loosley based on the events that occured back in June of 2008.

Birch is most notable for her roles in Hocus Pocus and American Beauty while Manheim has been featured in the Ghost Whisperer as Delia Banks. Directed by Rosemary Rodriguez, the Pregnancy Pact managed to gain Nationals headlines when the high school principle drew attention to the unbelievable true story.

Greg Verga, the former head of the Gloucester School Committee, stated that he would watch the movie:

“Out of morbid curiosity to see how badly they portray us and now much they fictionalize us. Hopefully it has a positive spin at the end to reduce teen pregnancy and not be an embarrassment for us.”

The Mayor of Gloucester also had concerns regarding the movie:

“The city and community have handled the ensuing attention with a focus on protecting the privacy of the children and families, and we will continue to do so. Even though data from the state Department of Health shows teen birth rates in Gloucester are below the state average, Gloucester citizens have become active and involved in assessing the situation to identify positive outcomes.”
