The Travolta case continues on, with new information regarding the extortion plot against the movie star. Get a full update regarding the story here.
Travolta’s attorney, Michael McDermott, revealed to the court on Friday that defendant Pleasant Bridgewater told him via telephone on January 12 that she wanted $25 million for Tarino Lightbourne, the paramedic on the scene when 16-year-old Jett Travolta had a seizure that eventually led to his death in January 2009 while on a family vacation in the Bahamas.
The telephone conversation was taped, with McDermott saying:
‘You are playing a very dangerous game, lady. I do not assent to your demands. I will go to the police.’
McDermott contends that Bridgewater called him numerous times on Lightbourne’s behalf and agreed to receiving $15 million for the Refusal of Transport/Treatment form that was signed by Travolta. The form basically would have let Travolta fly his son to a hospital in Florida rather than go to a hospital in Nassau. Plans changed, and Jett was taken to a local hospital where he later died.
McDermott went on to add that Bridgewater noted the importance of the document, and she revealed to him:
“Mr. Travolta either intentionally killed his child or was negligent and that this document is evidence that Mr. Travolta tried to flee the jurisdiction with his child’s dead body.”
McDermott wore a wire and recorded the conversations. He is denying that he tried to set Bridgewater up.
Both Lightbourne and Bridgewater are on trial for trying to extort $25 million from Travolta.
What are your thoughts on the John Travolta extortion case? I find it so sad that the Travolta family has to go through this and rehash what happened earlier this year. Hopefully the trial will not last long and they can move on. Check out a related video on the case below.
