Actor Viggo Mortensen has been cast and can be seen as the father without a name in the movie The Road. The movie is based on the novel by the same name penned by Cormac McCarthy. The story told revolves around a father and his son’s journey after the Apocalypse.

The Road is expected to be a blockbuster hit, nothing compared to the film 2012. Mortensen, who has been seen in a round of interviews in support of the film, has really gone out of his way prepping for his role. Learn more about Viggo below.

As a biography Viggo Peter Mortensen, The Rod actor, was born on the 20th of October in 1958. Mortensen is a New York City native who maintains a slew of acting credits that dates back to the early 1980’s. A student under Warren Robertson, Viggo made his first appearance in the movie Witness as an Amish Farmer.

The actor, who has also received positive praise from both the media and his acting peers, has since gone on to star in such roles as Tex in Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3, Young Guns 2 as John W. Poe and Carlito’s Way as Lalin. Viggo Mortensen’s additional film roles also include The Lord o the Rings series as Arargorn, 28 Days as Eddie Boone, A Perfect Murder, Crimson Tide and Daylight as Roy Nord.

Viggo Mortensen also holds several credits for his roles on the small screen and is a multi talented individual in painting, photography, music and poetry. Born to two traveling parents, Viggo has been all over the globe and also speaks several different languages from Spanish, to French and Danish. He also recorded three of his own Jazz CD’s.

Mortensen was married to Exene Cervenka. The couple, who is now divorced, have one child together. Viggo currently resides in Los Angeles.
