Will Smith was voted most valuable actor in Hollywood in Forbes’ first “star currency” survey. See more photos, video, and read more below.
Forbes’ survey asks industry insiders what they really think of more than 1,400 working actors when it comes to the financial success of film projects. Will Smith is that perfect combination of box office gold (his films have brought in more than $5.2 Billion worldwide) and real talent.
Smith was the only actor to receive a perfect score of 10, edging out Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and Angelina Jolie, who all tied for second with scores of 9.89. Others in the top 20 include Tom Hanks, Denzel Washington, Meryl Streep, Jack Nicholson and Matt Damon.
The actors on this list have demonstrated that they can attract big bucks in financing and world wide box office revenues. They also have big celebrity status that grabs media attention and creates valuable awareness for their films. There’s also a some major acting talent on this list as well.
With the top 20 actors alone, 16 have been nominated for an Academy Award in the acting categories. The actors on this list have a combined 69 nominations and 15 wins, pending the outcome of the Feb. 22 ceremony, with Pitt, Jolie and Streep up for the golden guy.
